Another private industry wanting government assistance. Utah plays this game, so why criticize the same from Washington?
This is a program that most definately needs to be extended. But since it doesn't effect abortion, or abstinence or cigarettes, our up-tight Legislators probably won't even give it consideration...they seem to have adopted Nancy Reagan's old battle cry against drugs... " Just Say NO ! "
Government shouldn't be in the business of forcibly taking money from some people (e.g., taxes) and giving gifts to select industries. It's a corrupt practice and breeds more corruption.
Corporate welfare, indeed. If tax favoritism truly helps lure some companies here, then why not lower taxes for every single business that operates in Utah?
Makes sense to me.
