Salt Lake City could be a world-class model of sustainability if it implements the ideas in this article.
Good idea if they actually do it.
Why should I need to have the government's permission to have a rainbarrel, grow vegetables in my front yard, or solar panels on a historic home? If its mine I should be able to do what I want. Big government is bad government.
Geedub:
I see this as shrinking government not expanding government. Over the 6 plus decades I have lived I have seen more and more regulation. We once had animals in our backyard in the city. I can remember a front lawn I had for a few years that was a strawberry patch. We didn't mow it. We picked it.
Now days they tell us it muct be lawn and they now say "By the grace of your local government you can have chickens BUT we will tell you how many and what kind and how to house them". I can't help to think that we were much better off in the "Good old days." I hope this is a movement to at least approach them again.
All well and good...just several decades too late.
