What in Tucket?

Haiti needs a lot of help, but as in most poor countries the real solution is to change the government. Haiti needs free enterprise, a market economy, that investors can actually make a profit. The bureaucracy is far too big, and they seemed frightened to have a company come in and set up a plant, hire the locals and produce a profitable product. Once a company does this the govt takes it over. Thus no foreign investment.

LDS Employment services has been working to assist micro-enterprise in Haiti.

It is hard for people to find or do work where they are injured or mal-nourished.

Also, the plans to help keep hospitals open will continue to provide jobs.

It would be nice if more micro-credit groups moved into Haiti. Maybe Enterprise Mentors International can ad Haiti to its areas of operation. They are a wonderful program that works in micro-credit to help people set up more operations.
