Ms. Hyer-compassionate and comprehensive, does that include control of the southern border?
Sounds like Hyer's plan is a hundred times better than the camps Chaffetz has suggested. I still can't believe we elected such a radical extremist.
Hey Chaffetz, when was the last time putting people in camps worked out well for a nation?
We Americans of proud Mexican heritage, of this Sanchez family 2nd, 3rd, 4th generations who live in Utah will NOT not be supporting Ms. Hyer.
We see her as not comprehending the issue of illegal aliens.
The global magnitude of the illegal alien issue impacting every nation.
The connection illegal immigration has with organized crime, counterfeit documents, ID theft, Human Trafficking, Labor Trafficking and Migrant smuggling, some of which are classified as crimes against humanity.
The cost of illegal immigration in lives. The return of forced labor (SLAVERY) into the United States.
The financial contribution to the Mexican Cartels that are forcing the collapse of Mexico. The executions of our family and friends.
Becoming an illegal alien is a choice to disrespect another nations laws when they choose to be smuggled or overstay their visas.
The Democrats in this state continue to practice discriminatory compassion favoring one nationality above all the people in the world who seek to enter this country legally. This is immoral.
We will be supporting Congressman Chaffetz, who does understand the illegal alien issue for the 3rd Congressional District of Utah.
"Hyer added, "Some people aren't interested in finding real solutions. They want to use the immigration issue for political gain; they're capitalizing on immigration as a wedge issue, or even worse, they're prejudiced, bigoted and intent on spreading fear, heat and misinformation. To those people, I simply say, 'Vote for my opponent,' " Hyer said."
This is complete and utter nonsense. It's a perfect example of why Democrats can't get elected to statewide office in Utah.
longbmt,
I would say Maricopa county, Arizona is a good example. A temporary solution for a temporary problem.
Hillen: Don't make uninformed assumptions.
Hyer is not a traditional Democrat. She's been a Republican all of her life. If you read her plan on her website, you'll see that she does understand the illegal alien issue and has a tremendous plan!
Her plan does not practice discriminatory compassion. It's conservative, but it doesn't pander! It's balanced and workable.
Great post Hillen, I fully agree with you, as does the Mexican American members of my family. The liberals do not comprehend this Illegal issue at all, and how it's affecting America. I fully believe that liberals will lose heavily nationwide in November for their failure to understand the big picture. Like your family ours also will support Congressman Chaffetz.

This article mistakenly defines Hyer's rejection of amnesty as paying fines. Hyer's rejection of amnesty is about more than just paying fines.
It's about not giving unfair advantage to those who have come illegally over those who have tried to do it right, and it's about not allowing those who have come illegally to get on an immediate path towards citizenship. Any path to citizenship would be separate, with no shortcuts or advantages.
Read her position on her website before making assumptions. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Hyer just lost any chance at election because she supports illegal liens. 70% of Utahns want MORE enforcement, not comprehensive reform. Illegals must be deported.
Xochi,
I do not make assumptions. I am highly informed concerning the illegal alien issue. Such as talking to the candidates in person.
Hillen: You may be highly informed on immigration, but you're obviously NOT highly informed about Karen Hyer or her position on immigration.
C. Darwin: I suggest you get informed on Hyer as well. Hyer's plan answers the valid concerns of most Utahns.
C Darwin: The longer people hold on to that completely untenable 'solution', the longer we will go without any actual fix. It is flat out impossible to deport 12-15million people. It is also impossible to have a border that is impenetrable. However, if we have easy, cheap, and workable legal immigration, it is possible to focus the resources we have on stopping illegal incursions across the border. Increased enforcement, secure border, easier legal entry, and a plan to fine those here, get them out of the shadows, on the tax rolls, and into society is the only possible solution to the problem.
Standing firm on making undocumented workers leave is blinding oneself to the realities of the situation. All that will do is put more money into the hands of id theft rings, as they will have to become more sophisticated to overcome increased enforcement. By fining those who come out of the shadows, we can put an end almost overnight, to the vast majority of id theft in this country, add millions of people to the tax rolls, and not cause massive damage to the multitudes of businesses (grocery store, department store, rental properties, etc..) that depend on the people you all want kicked out of the country.
Hyer: How about some compassion for the victims of illegal aliens? Anything short of securing the border and penaliziing employers is unacceptable.
Truly comical.
A Democrat talking about improving the immigration system.
Uh, what political party is suing the State of AZ for at least trying to enforce the current immigration laws of the USA?
Instead of wasting the money to sue a State (whether it be the Feds or compelling AZ to have to spend money defending) Dems should be providing their own immediate ideas or solutions but no, the best the Democrats can do is blow taxpayer money.
Nice. Very helpful.
We have drug cartels and human trafficing cartels literally flowing across the borders.
As much as 60% of the Mosted Wanted lists in several western States are all illegals.
Yet the Dimocrat solution is sue a State trying to protect itself.
This Utah Democrat is going to fix the current system. Riiiiiiiigth. I'm sure you are going to fix the Federal Immigration system. Same ole same ole. Stall and delay from Democrats while illegals flow in hordes across our borders.
The real reason?
Democrats pander to Hispanic voters (illegals included) and plan that eventually amnesty will be passed and when it does all those poor immigrants will be easily/controlled/used/manipulated for Democrats political purposes.
Voting specifically.
HILLEN - YOU ARE SPOT ON!!! I've never agreed more with anyone on this topic as much I have with you. SERIOUSLY! Well put and please, continue the message.
I attended the gathering in which Karen made her speech. She began by identifying the issues that have been raised by various parties about immigration and illegal immigration. She oommented on Rep. Chaffetz' stance on immigration, which is available on his website. Then, she presented a 10 point plan that addressed the concerns that have been raised. This plan balances legal, economic, and human issues. I didn't agree with all aspects of the plan, but I believe it is a basis for further discussion. One of Karen's great strengths is her ability to talk and work with people, even those who may not agree with her. We need this kind of problem-solving approach in Congress to help break the party-line voting that is the current norm. I respect the balanced approach that she is trying to take to this complicated issue, even though I don't agree with all of it.
Karen Hyer did not pander to the people she was addressing on Saturday. That was one of the things that impressed me about her. She acknowledged that not everyone there would agree with her. I didn't on all points. But afterwards, she sat down with a group that seemed to have strong feelings about this issue and had a good give and take with them.
I support jason and his stance on illegal immigration. Its time to seal the border and fine those who hire illegal immigrants and use them as a weapon to win jobs and contracts.
Its not a free market when the illegals are bascially on welfare (rent sub., free health care, free schooling, free breakfast and lunch at school and every other social benifit they recieve. Whatever they make on the job is theirs. That is not true for the working americans. We have to pay insurance, buy our food, pay our house payments etc. It really bothers me when I see the illegals driving around in nicer cars than I can afford.
