Ahh, remember when most of downtown Salt Lake City was like that? All the way down Main from First South to Third South and over to State. Wonderful little unique shops that made you want to go there, who offered services and things no one else did. Then the big guys moved in, and the buildings with interesting architecture were torn down to make room for more ugly, slab-sided glass boxes, and all the little shops got forced out, along with the wonderful character of old downtown, and all the fancy downtown malls in the world can't make up for it.
I really have to chuckle with this one...I was in downtown last Friday for a wedding and the hair and apparel fashions made my believe somebody turned the calendar back about 20 years.
Just remember if you don't shop and buy local these gems won't stay open. Skip Walmart next time you need a gift and drop into Frosty Darling or Retro Rose. Buy vintage clothes and furniture to help save the environment. All of these businesses need YOUR business. Or none of them will be around. And we'll be stuck with another Starbucks and Check Cashing place or a hi-rise condominium that is insanely overpriced and an eye-sore.
I have ALWAYS gotten my Halloween costumes from House of Chuckles ever since I first met Tracy. He is great to work with and has all sorts of different choices. His shop also offers great stocking stuffers and gag gifts for those hard to shop for people in your life.
