This game was very ugly. It will go down as one of the worst games we have played all year, along with our game @DC United and the game vs. San Jose.
Having said that, we did what we needed to win. We caught a huge break with the penalty for Robbie. Now that we have gotten through Chicago, I think that we can definitely regroup and take it to Dallas.
You could tell that the gameplan was to score early and the first half reflected that. RSL Created chances and pushed forward.
The second half was a different story. Chicago's lineup changes and drive really pushed RSL to the limit. That made me feel less sorry for the CHI fans. A little luck however and RSL survived.
We've been charged with PKs this year much softer than the one we got. Findley had a couple of moments but a few very ugly/heavy touches.
Espy needs to chill out, stop flopping, and minimize the grabbing. Yeah, he got popped in the eye late on, but he's the boy who cries 'wolf'.
It did seem like a soft penalty, but RSL has been on the other end of a few of those. It's hard to know how to handle getting a few of the calls now.
First half we played much better and controlled the tempo. We got away from our game in the second half and just tried to survive with the 1 goal.
Jean Alexander was a great sub last night. He provided some much needed defense towards the end of the game.
ugly, ugly game but we'll take the win. great job RSL!
Jean Alexander did look good last night. It's the first time I've ever seen him look good. Hopefully he has figured things out and will be a little more calm and collected out there.
The 2nd half was ugly. I think the humidity must have nearly killed our team off. Luckily we grabbed the 3 points and are still within reach of the Galaxy.
Take the 3 points and run...
I didn't think the game was ugly at all. I don't know what people expect. They went up by a goal on the road and played out to win.
The game was great. I think RSL did what they needed to do to win. They didn't need to score another goal. They focused their energy on defense.
Chucky is right, Game may not have been super pretty
but RSL got the result they wanted and left Chicago with 3 points. Hard to believe how far we have come, We win a match on the road, and fans are critical.
There is something that is respectable about a team that commits to playing an attacking beautiful style of soccer. On the road OK it's fine we'll take the points but that's not something i would want to watch if we were in the RioT. Great Result now if only the donovans would drop some points...
