wow. this is getting a bit ridiculous.

JohnJacobJingleHeimerSchmidt

This is nothing more than xenophobic, bigoted and racist actions. Those people need to grow up.

Esquire

What is wrong with the Republicans? Not everyone is white and mirrors European ancestry.

Another Perspective

Let the Republicans across the country continue in their course.

They will get the votes of biggots for the next election and perhaps the one after that as a result of their slights to hispanics now. That is until the far right becomes engaged with some other issue of the day.

Not so with those insulted and offended. Blacks still vote for liberals (they are the
Democrats of today) as a result of the 1964 civil rights act. And they have taught their children to do so. Not so much with hispanics, ... until now.

When middle America remembers the tea parties because they are a paragraph in high school history books. Hispanics will possibly have developed a permanent liberal bent. Given their population, this will affect elections and the political dividing line for decades to come.

'Some Republicans are unhappy with the Bonner County Fair's theme of "Fiesta at the Fair," in light of ongoing battles to stop illegal immigration from Mexico.' - Article

Some Republicans are also upse that Obama did 'plug the whole' of BP's oil spill...

the worst in American history.

And that the National guard was on the scene of the fire that started the spill...

in the first 12 hours.

Yeah, you heard that right. Hours.

But then again, I thought we had to STOP the spread of big goverment into our lives?

So why is Az asking for federal help with immigration?

attentive

OK. I believe that our country should find ways to cut down on illegal immigration (I realize it never will be stopped completely), but aren't we all getting way crazy? I read in another post that someone thought that if LDS people observed the 12th Article of Faith (to uphold the law)that they HATED illegal immigrants. That's awful. How many things do we all say every day that come from another language? Haute couture? Uber this and uber that? Pizza? I believe that English should be made the official language of the U.S., but not to shut out others, but to unify us all. It IS the language of the majority and therefore the easiest solution. But if we all keep looking for reasons to be separate, what road are we heading down? Another Civil War?

These good folks have raise my consciousness. From now on I will not eat chile con carne, tacos, tortillas, or burritos. I will not permit my kids to have a pinata at their parties. I will stay away from rodeos, lariats, and canyons, and mesas. And I will work to change the names of California, Nevada, and Arizona, as well as numerous cities and towns such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Loma Linda. Is that a good start?

dave

These people afraid of the word fiesta must be very insecure. Very weak.

Chris B

Good. We don't want to encourage illegal immigration at all. For those of you who want to have a fiesta - go to mexico

Poqui

Michael, you forgot a few more. These words we use in English all came from the Spanish language:

abalone, adobe, Alcatraz, alligator, alpaca, anchovy, Apache, armada, armadillo, arroyo, avocado, banana, bandolier, barbecue, barracuda, bodega, bonanza, breeze, bronco, buckaroo, burro, cafeteria, caldera, cannibal, canoe, canyon, caramba, cargo, Caribbean, chaparral, chile, chipotle, chocolate (GASP!), churro, cigar, cigarette, cilantro, cockroach, cocoa, Colorado, comrade, condor, conquistador, corral, coyote, creole, crimson, crusade... and I'm only to the letter "C"

The Spanish language has had a huge impact in the English we speak today. Let's put away ignorance and think of better solutions.

Poqui

Okay, time to translate the menu:

Burritos = Little Donkeys
Tacos = Plug
Chile con Carne = Peppers with Meat
Tortillas = Small cakes

"I'd like to order a Chicken Little Donkey on corn Small Cakes, my husband would like a Beef Plug, and my son a bowl of Peppers with Meat."

I'm sorry, this is getting ridiculous...

@Chris B

I love great sarcasm!

bloggy

We had a fiesta at our house and illegal immigrants didn't show up.

During WWII Frankfurters became hot dogs or el perro caliente. Hamburger became Salisbury steak. Remember freedom fries for French fries? It was the French who sent military advisers and arms that helped us win our Revolutionary War.

These people aren't big on knowledge. They play on emotions. They are an humorous embarrassment to Americans.

Stop playing the race card, these people aren't racist. :-)

The lesion here is don't judge others by your level of intelligence. If you believe intellectual elitism is bad, try ignorance.

That is the way they want it, an Aryan Nation full of skinheads minus the shaved heads.

VST

Wow! And here I thought all along that all the extreme-fringe political nut cases were Democrats and not Republicans within my own party.

Silly me! :-)

ComeOnAmerica

Wow, maybe the narrow-minded GOP folks up there should also consider a name change for the state. After all, doesn't "Idaho" have origins in Native American languages? And as every 'amurican' loving repub knows, Native Americans aren't REAL amuricans.

God, those repubs are so dumb!

Come to NYC! From Chinese in Flushing to Hebrew in Williamsburg(and ever so much more), we got ya covered! And not a soul complains. Funny, that.
