Well, he never "inspired" me. He's a druggie, and the Beatles music was pretty offensive to me, anti-religious, immoral, drug induced, and not worthy of listening to. Why do we have to have this junk come to Utah?
All true. He's a LEGEND & will only be here once, I fear. BUT I have two extra tickets up close in the A-1 section ON the FIELD. Will sell them at cost to true fans. Call me 801-557-1466.
He's 70 yrs old !! I doubt he is still a "druggie" As far as junk coming to Utah, not a problem, we already have plenty of junk here to worry about. If you want to rant, start by cleaning up the problems we already have. An ex-Beatle coming to Utah, not a problem. However, he would probably sound better 20 yrs ago. He's 70 ! and still pulling in the big bucks. What a sweet gig.
Who's Paul McCartney? A musician? Singer? Never heard of him.
@blueboot
Your youth is showing.
I am one of the worlds greatest Beatles fans too, and am always intrigued by their following. Young and old, generational, Serious musicians, professionals and wannabees, like me. My buddy and I learned to play the guitar because we wanted to be like them although my deep bass voice would betray me. I agreed that there was a time when they were "more popular than Jesus", but was never offended by that, because it mostly indicated that there was a serious lack of Christianity in the world, and that too many people actually worshipped them. It helped me stay grounded on not becoming fanatical. John was right, there was too much worshipping of wrong types of idols. "Maybe I'm amazed" at the way they pioneered todays popular music and that there are so many who don't give them due credit.
What is wrong with "tq2"? Holy cow! I've seen McCartney twice in this decade and both concerts were awesome. The music is great, the band is terrific. Like it or not, McCartney is one of the biggest and most influential musicians of the modern era. The Beatles are still one of the top two selling acts in the world even after nearly 50 years, including with the young. The music is timeless and I suspect it sill still be popular long from now. To see him now is an opportunity you should not miss.
The Beatles' music will indeed remain popular for years to come - they are the Mozart or Beethoven of our generation. I had my doubts until my teenage sons became huge Beatles fans - on their own. Their music is more popular with teenagers today than it was when I was in high school.
I saw McCartney in concert during his previous US tour - it was fantastic.
I must admit that the BEATLES did make great music and I remember when they 1st came to the USA.
BUT- today I will not go to any of Pauls shows because he cannot keep his mouth shut about USA politics.
I would not go and see him in Denver, SLC or any place else.
When performing in W/DC his comment about President Bush not being as smart as BHO was way over the line.
I would put President Bush up against Paul &/or BHO in an over-all knowledge contest anytime.
Paul, Elvis and MJ are and were the greastest men who ever lived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mo no more -
I guess that the MJ you are referihng to is Michael Jordan ... correct..!!
McCartney is a musical genius, just like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. There will always be people who disagree with statements they make or their life choices, just as I can always find points to disagree with nearly anyone on the planet. However, McCartney is a pure musical genius. John Lennon's expertise wasn't religion, and McCartney's expertise isn't politics. And if you're talking "druggies," include everyone who drinks any degree of alcohol whatsoever, because it's certainly a dangerous (albeit legal) drug. But McCartney is a musical genius.
Hey "onebigdaddy", McCartney was correct, though. You gotta give him that.
