Keep up the good work Arizona. Illegal immigrants are criminals and should be treated as such. I'll glady make a donation to such a worthy cause, anyone know how to contribute to such a wonderful thing?
I'll happily pay a few more dollars for my hotel rooms and hamburgers as we watch taxes and health insurance costs decrease
This is an outrage. Here we have a state which is trying to protect itself and its citizens against outsiders who have increasingly become more and more dangerous - something that the Federal government is tasked to take care of themselves, but due to political moves of the current administration they are not.
This President promised the governor he would send troops, but instead is sending lawyers. This is one of the worst things ever in this history of this country...
As received in an email:
I have a friend who is president of his homeowners association in the Dallas. They had a problem with litter near some of his association's homes currently being built.
The trash was coming from the Mexican laborers working at the construction sites.
So here's what his community did. They organized a group and called themselves The "Inner Neighborhood Services" group, and arranged to go out at lunch time and "police" the trash themselves.
They bought navy blue baseball caps and had the initials "INS" on the caps.
After the Inner Neighborhood Services group's first lunch time pickup detail, with all of them wearing their caps and some carrying cameras, 46 out of the total of 68 construction workers did not show up for work the next morning -- and haven't come back.
The General Contractor is furious, but can't say anything publicly because he could be busted for hiring illegal aliens. They even informed the INS in advance of their plans, and according to my friend, the INS said basically, "Have at it!"
Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes....... 12 million illegal aliens are depending on you.
BREAKING NEWS
In magic it's called a "misdirection", in a war it's called "diversions' in a liberal world it's called a smokescreen here, don't let them blindside you now. And keep you off the real ACE up their sleeve and rabbit in their other hat. U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's new law targeting illegal immigrants, setting the stage for a clash between the federal government and the state over the nation's toughest immigration crackdown. WAKE UP NOW. There's recent reports that the Obama administration is considering granting deferred action or parole to large groups of illegal aliens. Parole is only intended to be used on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. As a result of these concerns, I signed a letter sent to President Barack Obama expressing to him my opposition to any backdoor amnesty granted through executive order.
Get busy now.
How do you sue a state for writing a law that virtually mimics the federal law and is, in fact, less aggressive than the federal law?
I'm so glad that Obama is wasting his time with this in order to try to get hispanic votes instead of performing his constitutional duty by defending our borders.
wow what a joke. The US Government is suing to protect people who are breaking the law. WOW. We are now the laughing stock of the world. Except to Mexico of course.
Obama suing against Arizona's law modeled after Federal Law means Obama is suing the United States!
Upside down and backwards!
Obama certainly has shown what he's made of with this lawsuit.
He REFUSES to enforce/guard the borders, but worse, doesn't allow anyone else to either!
The justice department uses taxpayer money to argue a lawsuit related to THEIR DERELICTION of duties?
Do they work for us, or do we work for them?
The president of the United States is hired by the people to enforce the laws, and for many, many years, they (be it Obama, or any of the recent predecessors, whether Democrat or Republican) have refused to enforce the immigration laws.
I have to wonder what secret motive those who are elected to the "highest" office of the land causes them to constantly ignore their duty to enforce these laws?
And as soon as people at a lower level galvanize to force the issue, the Chief Executive issues a court order to allow him to continue to ignore the enforcement of this set of laws.
That's great that illegal immigrants have some good lawyers from the federal government working for them. Now if only us citizens could have some. We give millions of dollars in foreign aid to countries that hate our guts, and then we give money to our own government lawyers to represent them against our interests. America is a fascinating place. The feds should be thanking AZ for helping them to do their job, not suing them.
There MUST be a website where other real, true LEGAL citizens like most of us posting here can join together and put some muscle to our convictions. Muscle, effort, organization, funding, etc., whatever it takes. I talked with a representative from my health insurance company the other day who told me that, YES, because of illegal immigrants and services provided to them that is one of the biggest reasons that health insurance premiums keep going up. He said that hospitals and doctors give services to these people and call it "charity care," but SOMEone has to pay for it. You guess who.
I think we should move our nation's capital to the AZ/Mexico Border. Since the federal government thinks that their handling of the situation is adequate, I'm sure President Obama and all of our wonderful congressmen will have to problem living there.
As always in America, the lawyers win.
Mormons bear such hatred against undocumented Mexicans and their families. They base this hatred on the mormon's "12th article of faith". Even the LDS church won't take a stand on the immigration issue. Mormons claim to be Christians, but in reality, their behavior on this issue indicates otherwise.
Arizona is "usurping federal authority"???? Are you kidding me? What federal ambulance chaser came up with that little gem?
The feds have no interest on either side of the aisle in doing ANYTHING about illegal aliens. They have too much money and power to gain by maintaining the status quo. So a state actually tries to do the job the feds REFUSE to do and they get sued for usurping federal authority.
Really, I wonder if the feds laughed their guts out over their imagined cleverness on this one and the supreme irony at work in their lawsuit or if they're really so arrogant that they actually believe their own tripe.
Grandstanding. Obama met with the Hispanic organizations then gave his speech (Thursday).
He has fulfilled his campaign promise to try to get amnesty, and hopes it's enough to retain his support from their organizations.
Once it's found to be legal (precedent shows this, there are currently over 200 laws in states made to enforce immigration laws).
The next wave of bills will be more onerous than Arizona. There is going to be a backlash over this in statehouses around the country.
Captain Morgan,
Did you have to lower the discussion level? Why do people like you always have to drag religion into every topic? Oh, I know, it's because you're BIGOTED. In your own argument, you do exactly what you are accusing "Mormons" of doing. So get off your soapbox, bud. You're being more than a little hypocritical.
And with that, I will waste no more time on you or your ilk.
Captain Morgan - Your comments are out of place here. This article is NOT in the least bit about Mormons and prejudice towards the illegal immigrants. YOU are obviously prejudiced towards Mormons though.
As an Arizonian, & member of a minority group, I love all kinds of people and diversity. I just HATE the burden the illegal immigrants place on our resources. Our health care system is suffering. Our schools are suffering majorly. Our government is suffering.
The FEDERAL Government AND Mexico's government BOTH have immigration laws more stringent than AZ's so why all the hullabaloo about a law that AZ passes because we NEED HELP WE AINT GETTING FROM THEM! And to cry foul before they even READ it!?! Hypocritical!
People are NOT going to get swept out of their neighborhood or homes or jobs - ONLY if they are picked up for some OTHER crime, THEN police ask if they are legal or not. ONLY THEN. Racial profiling, my foot!
I agree the White House should be moved here, and Obama's family not allowed to leave more than one weekend a month.
It is scary-sad that the best friend our enemies have is ourselves.
Some history here. Governor Chiles said deportations had saved Florida $5 million this year and were freeing prison beds for inmates charged with more serious crimes. "It will help us account for the impact that illegal immigration has on our criminal justice system," said Mr. Chiles, a Democrat who is running for re-election in a tight race in which crime and immigration are top issues. Nice try, under an agreement with the Federal Government, Florida became the first state to pull immigrants who had been convicted of crimes out of prison and deport them. Gov. Lawton Chiles said the Cabinet, acting as the Florida Clemency Board, also recommended a 15-year term of probation. Also Lawton Mainor Chiles granted clemency to thousands of other women, a lot on death roe also, in prison all using this battered women crap to get free. Now the Obama administration is considering granting deferred action or parole to large groups of illegal aliens. Parole is only intended to be used on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.
And NONE OF THIS IS sinking in hey?.
What is Utah doing to stop it also?.
RE: Cats
The Arizona law goes beyond Federal law.
It provides for state enforcement and state punishment. It would be just as wrong for me to stop cars speeding through my neighborhood and collecting fines from the drivers, because "I didn't think the city cops were doing a good enough job".
