Utah Dem

There seems to be information missing from this article. Do parents/guardians of these individuals pay for any of the services? Or is it just the state and federal taxpayers?

To bad UT has never invested in community services that can provide appropriate (and perhaps even BETTER) services for people with disabilities outside of a state Institution (which is what this is). Research has shown that, in the long term, (although initial costs are large) costs decrease for a state when they provide appropriate (and good)services in the community, rather than in a segregated institution. But, that would mean that UT would actually have to INVEST in those whom they much prefer to "house" in institutions upfront--instead of just bleeding out with larger costs over time!

I will have to say that this news saddens me. I KNOW for a fact that the folks who live there get great care. This is for FormerUT.. This Center has been very beneficial for someone I KNOW. Other options have been tried before and the Dev Center was the last resort. This Person is NOW getting the services and the care he needs where as in a community based program he wouldn't be.

Utah Dem.. You have NO IDEA what that so called burden would be. Your not the Parent. and this Article is NOT about deporting illegals. So stay on topic..... I am a Tax Payer.. I don't mind my tax dollars going where it needs to go!
