Bring back the Fun House!! Thirty(+) years later, I still remember the hours I spent there on a couple family occasions. Nice article; thanks for the memories!
Amazing photos!
I worked at Lagoon during the summers of 1967-68 and can say from that experience that it a fun place to work as well as visit.
I worked on several games (I held the record for the most number of stuffed animals given away and money made in one day) and was aspiring to move up to ride operator but never got that far. Still, being there when rock bands like "The Doors", or "The Beach Boys" came through made for great times that I'll remember forever.
Lagoon was, and I presume still is, a great place to work and play.
Incidentally, I suspect we'll never see the "Fun House" again. Far too many injuries to be tolerated in our litigation-happy society nowadays. Just one more casualty of the nanny state mentality.
I have lived in Farmington for 20 years. I hear Lagoon is not such a great place to work any more. Farmington residents used to get into the park for free, not any more. With the annual price increase, outrageous parking prices I call the place "Two and Half Flags Over Farmington". It really pales in comparison to other amusement parks.
Californian to SaltLakeCity..
During family visits
From the early 1960 years
visit to Utah..Was so much fun
to Go to Lagoo we love Lagoon park!
I have fond memories of the Fun House. I don't remember much else before 1990 except the Fun House. It's too bad that it closed - I wish they would let people tour it even though you can't play in it any more!
the admission prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!!! And parking at 10 bucks a pop - CRAZY! I'd expect that much for Disneyland - but Lagoon? Seriously people - let's get real!
Re: marilives
It's 2010, not 1970. Lagoon actually charges a low price considering the modern amusement park rides and fees. Most other amusement parks actually charge more. Also, with their bounceback you can get a second admission for only 10 dollars more which would mean a lower price. So basically you can get 2 days for around $50. Disneyland will give you 2 days for $150, about 3 times the price. Also, at least they let you bring food into Lagoon. A lot of amusement parks don't let you do that. I'm not saying six flags or Disneyland aren't bigger and better or worth the expenses or whatever. I'm only saying Lagoon is definitely a better financial alternative for those living in Utah and on a budget compared to other amusement parks.
