Ah thank you Sandtrom for being a total nut job...again!
What difference does it make. The people who obey the law dso so.
Those who do't carry guns. It's as simple as that. Let everyone have that right legally.
I enjoy my 2nd Amendment rights as much as the next guy but this is ridiculous. I already have the right to carry a gun in the open. Making it so anyone walking down the street could be hiding a gun makes me feel less safe and more inclined to carry a gun myself. This would rapidly get out of hand IMO.
For the love... it is amazing to me how often our legislators infringe while collecting. Stop voting. It is murder.
It seems to me that people whom we're afraid of will have guns regardless of permits being required or not. The idea of requiring a permit is nice, because it leads us to believe that such permits will keep guns out of the hands of people who would harm us. However, that is a false feeling of security, because the "bad" people will carry since using a gun to get their way is part of their culture. People whom we trust need to be able to carry guns to protect themselves and to create an environment where the "bad" people don't know who has a gun and who doesn't.
Quote: "Making it so anyone walking down the street could be hiding a gun makes me feel less safe and more inclined to carry a gun myself."
I couldn't agree more! Thank you for putting into words the things that were going through my mind as I read the article. I guess the Wild West is a thing of the future, not just the past.
Many Americans have recited the Pledge of Allegiance voicing the words “equal justice for all”. With that in mind and the notion of equal opportunity, we should provide guns to all our citizens who request them. Especially those unemployed who can't afford them.
It is grossly unfair and unjust for only some citizens to have and carry guns. All Americans need to be equal in stature to other Americans.
If all people carried guns, every person would be equal, and bullying and many other crimes could be eliminated from our society. Dishonest merchants and confidence men might be a little less bold in their robbery of people.
In the land of equal opportunity and equal justice for all, either all Americans should carry guns or no Americans should carry guns.
Regardless of the carry thing, all home owners, businesses and churches should have the protection they desire, if that is a gun, that’s OK.
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god with liberty and justice for all"
Funny don't see the word equal anywhere in that.
Fact- Bad guys carry guns and never bother with any permits, background checks, or anything else.
Now, we are really just dealing with law abiding citizens since the criminals pack anyway.
There is no evidence that getting a permission slip from some bureaucrat makes anyone any safer when carrying a legal self defense weapon. (Alaska and Vermont have been doing this for years and Arizona just started.)
There are no government permission slips or test required to attend (or even start) a church; no selling or grammar tests to write newspaper stories; no broadcast auditions to be a "news reporter." LIeteracy test and poll taxes to vote have been declared unconstitutional.
So why should law abiding citizens need a permission slip? Especially when bad guys don't?
Gun carrying citizens should get training, but not as a mandatory thing.
In 90% of cases where guns are used for self defense, no shots are fired, so "live fire" requirements are unrealistic. (Highly recommended- absolutely, but not a government requirement!)
I personally believe that a society has a responsibility to keep citizens safe, which means that appropriate gun laws are reasonable and necessary. However, my personal belief shouldn’t trump the rule of law…in this case, the 2nd amendment of the Constitution.
The Constitution is precise in its wording and meaning…people have a right to keep and bear arms. Such precise wording and meaning was upheld by the Supreme Court…a long overdue legal clarification.
Rather than argue about this precise meaning, which is a losing argument, those who oppose this right must work to change the Constitution rather than “back-door” restrictive gun laws through illegal codes and ordinances.
The focus on “reinterpreting” laws we don’t agree with rather than working to “change” laws through an established legal process sets a dangerous precedent for a society that largely depends on the rule of law for its permanence.
So, if citizens living in a “lawful” society don’t like the 2nd amendment, then work to amend the Constitution…it’s been amended many times in the past.
So, your lust for guns has prevailed. If you are so tough, why the need to hide them. If guns are such a great deterrent, why conceal? Be a man and wear openly. I swear, gun lovers have serious psychological issues.

Wow. This is a blunder caused by my mind hearing something that wasn’t there. I have recited the pledge hundreds of time in my life and I always thought “justice for all” implied equality.
However, I still think that if some people carry guns, all people should carry guns. When I deal with someone, not close to me personally, I like to think I am equal, no matter how big or powerful he is.
What part of:
"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"
does not the LEFT NOT get?
the "right of people" part?
the "keep and bear Arms" part?
the "shall NOT be infringed" part?
or perhaps it is NATURAL right of self defense they don't get?
It is NOT the government's and NOT the societys responsibility, to keep you personally safe 24/7,
that is your responsibity, your personal reponsibility,
all they can provide is very GENERAL protection, the military, and locally, the police.
Does the LEFT really want them to be BIG BROTHER?
The problem I have is that at the gun range I see many people that have a horrific lack of safety practices. At least if someone takes the little 3 hour class they know the laws they have to follow and some basic safety.
If you shoot someone YOU ARE GOING TO COURT AFTERWARD. Shooting someone because you are scared is not a good legal defence. You may shoot the person you are scared of only too loose everything you own in court later for manslaughter.
If you get me on the jury you have to convince me to the letter of the law. I wouldn't give you an inch.
Get a Tazer and some pepper spray.
Actually we like having a BIG BROTHER that helps protect us from criminals, bad food, poor water, unscrupulous businessmen, bad doctors, and all sort of other dangers. And while the help is not perfect if every case, it is much appreciated.
The people who don’t want BIG BROTHER to help us are the criminals, unscrupulous businessmen and many other evil dishonest people. They want us to be weak, dumb and defenseless.
If BIG BROTHER could give us good protection from bad guys with guns, I would gladly give up the need to carry a heavy piece of iron on my person.
Some people would like to enjoy the thrill of gun fights, but I have other things I’d rather do.nt
