Go KOC,

There are many lessers than Boozer and they belong on other teams. Keep him here, he is young , he is a stud and he plays well in the Jazz system. He is willing to take shots when the game is on the line and often comes through for the team.

With the Nets draft they should not need Boozer, and if LeBron doesn't go to NY then Boozer probably won't either.

Pat Riley GM of the Heat stabbed Boozer in the back last offseason, and Boozer would rather deal with Sloan who has his back than Pat Riley who is willing to sell anyone down the river. If Dwayne Wade had Boozer last year Boston may not have been the eastern representative, but Riley cheaped out and did not get Dwayne a supporting cast of value and I am sure Carlos knows that.

Chicago also snubbed Boozer and I for one hope he remembers that when it comes time to sign with the Jazz again. Boozer is one of the big reasons teams fear coming to Salt Lake City. The Jazz would rather play him than play against him.

Show Me The Title

In the great immortal words of Bill Simmons, "Winning Championship, is not about Basketball" ... it's about the sacrifice, determination and unity of a team. I would hope at the end of the day that the Millers and KOC would figure how Boozer figures in that equation.

There is no doubt he brings 20 and 10 pretty much everynight. But, he is good for the team? I and the many other Jazz fans can't answer that question ... only those close to the situation.

What I want more than anything is a championship in Utah. I would expect the team to make championship moves to assemble the best team together, not necessarily the best collection of talent (This is one reason why I think the Heyward pickup a great set in that direction).

Go Jazz!

Terry

Jazz can't afford him unless they trade Millsap or somehow trade AK. I say they would have not paid Millsap all that money unless they were expecting him to take the starting role and chip in his 18 and 10 with slightly improved defense than Booze. Now we just need a decent defensive back up that we should have drafted and given valuable playing time/experience to. Hopefully something out there for mid level in free agency???

JFFR

Booze was the heart of the Jazz this year. He was the biggest cheer leader and supporter of everyone. He has always been in AK's corner. He sticks up for guys, he bought those fortune cookies for Wesley Matthews, he said the right things when Brewer got traded, he called DWill out when DWill needed to be called out.

I know it's been a frustrating ride the past couple of years, but Booze proved himself this year. I hope he comes back.

(he's not perfect, his defense needs to get better and he's got to play through/avoid strained obliques, but he understands the system well)

Johnson72

I hope he does sign with a reaal team... In a real city.

GreasyDave

Boozer? The heart of the team? He left his heart in Cleveland.

Bugoff

SLC Dunk ran a nice analysis. The result over the last 2 years. The Jazz win just as many games without Boozer as they do with Boozer.

He adds NOTHING to the total wins. He is totally replaceable.

He is a 20/10 man. Well David Lee is a 20/12 man and costs 3-6 million less. Lee is younger. Both are poor defenders. The Jazz would be no worse off with Lee but pay a lot less tax.

We have seen Boozer turn into a fading jump shot for how many years against LA? It is not fair to judge Boozer by one series?

Well KOC when are you going to get serious about beating LA? If you field a team that can, you don't have to be worried about making the playoffs or filling the stadium.

Go find a C who can defend and score. Boozer is already replaced by Millsap and AK.

It is pure suicide financially to give Boozer a near Max contract the year before the new CBA.

Someone please knock some sense into Jazz management before they destroy the franchise with their continuity disease.

TrueFan

The bottom line: we won't be as good a team if Boozer leaves. However, I would be willing to take one step back (next season) if we could take two steps forward the following year when AK's contract comes off the books and the Jazz are both major players in the free agent market, as well as in the area of making trades. I don't Boozer can bring us a title...bottom line. If your happy with just being a playoff team every season, then by all means resign Boozer to a new multi year deal. But if you really want to win a championship, I think it's safe to say after five years, he isn't going to be the guy to do that. This is a tough decision, but I say...let him go. We need to try something new if we want to win the Western Conference. The same old song and dance will continue to bring the same old results.

Jack Bauer

"Everyone from management to head coach to at least some players suggest that they without Boozer can't do nearly as well as they have.".....interesting comment. It just blows my mind on why on draft day the Jazz passed up on Ed Davis or Patrick Patterson unless Gordon Hayward is the second coming of Larry Bird...lols.

Anthonyv

Enough about boozer he dont want to be here anyway !What I'd like to know is why we did'nt the Jazz go after a big powerfull center that can play in the paint!!!Okur is ok but is allways shooting 3's. Fes is just young still and needs to work out and get mean! If we had a big mean machine in the centre position we'd have a championship team ! And let's not forget about Milsap and his 25 double doubles last year ! Boozer who !

Dixie Dan

Gee, if money is not the problem, why wouldn't Labron want to play in Utah?

Riot Man

Finally some rational comments!

You guys complain all year that the team always does the same ole, same ole, and that they never do what it takes to win the big one. Then when it comes time to cut ties, you cry out for mercy!

Boozer is part of the problem and the reason the Jazz never do anything in the playoffs, and he's gotta go. Let him be some other team's injury and defensive liability for the next few years. We had our turn and couldn't do anything with it.

If we have to wait a year for AK's contract to expire, so be it. We knew this year was a waste when Loozer came back, and we can wait another if we have to for AK to leave too. It will give Milsap, Hayward and Mathews some quality playing time. Out with the dead weight, they are killing this team! (yes, that means Korver too)

anchorageles

say goodbye to boozer........................he's gone!

JFFR

@GreasyDave

Booze was the emotional leader of the team. Did you watch any of the games? Are you too blinded by your hatred to see the reality of that?

JFFR

Point of clarification- Just because I say Booze is the emotional leader of the team, doesn't mean I think he's good at it.

In my opinion, Booze doesn't get angry enough. He is too happy. When Kobe Bryant or DWill make mistakes, they get angry, when Booze makes a mistake (or gets injured before the Suns game) he claps his hands and smiles in frustration.

Booze does not have a killer instinct. That's the main flaw I see in him. In all fairness, I think Millsap could develop a killer instinct...(Kobe didn't have in early in his career, leaders have to develop it. It takes some disappointing losses to develop it, thats why DWill's is so strong)

byronbca

Milsap will make 6.2 million next year, Boozer will likely make between 12 million and 16 million next year.

Boozer is a 20 and10 guy, while Milsap is an 18 and 10 guy. Milsap however is a better defender.

Boozer has missed 28% of his starts due to injury over his career, while Milsap has no real history of injuries.

Boozer will turn 29 next season, Milsap will turn 26, Boozer will likely be leaving his prime, while Milsap will be entering his.

Should Boozer leave keep in mind that AK’s best position is at PF and the Jazz just drafted Hayward so there is pretty good depth at both forward positions.

So here is the 6 to 8 million dollar question. Is Boozer worth 14 million dollars a year? Or would the Jazz be better served to spend that money on a center this year or next?

AFCoug

I believe between AK and Milsap we lose little at PF if Boozer leaves. The Jazz are better with him but still not great. When you look at teams with other max players DWill and Booz just would not compare. Lakers-Bryant & Gasaul, Boston-Pierce 7 Garnett, Lebron, Wade, Bosh, etc could be 2 on a team together. Then we would have the Jazz. DWill (deserves it), AK, and potentially Booz at or near max.

I think we would be better served picking up some role players instead of signing Booz to near max money. I like him but it is not worth going broke. Other moves need to be made to compete for a title. We are solid at most positions though and that becomes a problem. Who gets bumped out of the starting line up? DWill should be the only safe position. Mathews, AK, Miles, Okur, Milsap, Korver, etc are all solid to good players but we are missing the next level all star to go along with DWill. Yet when solid at all those positions we fail to go after big players which = big money for those positions. What to do?

The Great Houdini

Millsap may not have as good a game around the basket, but he does so many other things that make up for it.Boozer played hard last year, yes,in a contract year,I thank him for that but also say good luck and adios Carlos,AK and Millsap can more than man the 4 spot, and Millsap proved that he can slide over to the 3 and play along side AK at the 4,or AK at the 3,Milly at 4,either way, with Hayward backing up at the SF

astroboy

I throw my vote in for the 'one step back, two steps forward' play.

I think boozer is a valuable asset to the team, but the jazz just can't afford him for what he wants and what he's worth to us as a small market team.

Unless the bottom of his market completely falls out and they can get him cheap, let him walk and bide time until AK comes off the books and the jazz can really make some moves to build around DWill (he's the REAL centerpiece we can't let leave).

Hellooo

Boozer staying or leaving makes very little difference as in either case the Jazz do not have the
components in place to win the championship. They are to poor defensively as a team, and no one player is going to change that. Add to that the whole starting front line from last year AK, Okur, and Boozer are injury prone so you never have your main group together for the championship run. They either injured or just coming back from injury. But, kudos to the Jazz for what they do well, which is get to the playoffs more often than anyone else.
