My prediction is that the Jazz trade with Golden State for the number 6 pick to get Greg Monroe. Then Golden State will take the best available power forward. We'll likely have to give up a future 1st round pick to do it, maybe the future Memphis Pick. I wonder if we should just stay at 9 and be happy with either Davis, Udoh, or Aminu (likely to go to the Clippers at 8).
It is going to be an interesting day!
I would hope the Jazz draft Udoh, based on overall skill set and defensive minded, shotblocking attitude he is the player I think fits what the Jazz need.
If Udoh is not there I hope they take Patterson and I think he will be there. I was going for Davis if Udoh were gone but I think Patterson if the better choice. I just worry about Davis being so slender, narrow and lightweight. I know Davis has alot of upside but I like what I see in Patterson, he probably is the most ready to contribute now.
I have been under the impression during this whole process that the goal is to get taller, longer more athletic and a more defensive minded PF to try to match up with other elite teams that we stuggle with because of their length. If that is true Udoh or Patterson (or Davis) would meet that goal.
I think the Jazz must consider Paul George too. He is the best athlete in the draft and he can shoot.
if this is the draft, then no wonder the NBA has so many "busts". Apparently what you "have done" is not at all important, its what some idiot GM or scout thinks you "can do". Nowhere else in the world is this methodology used.
RE: Still Blue...
Where else in the world is this methodology used?
The 2008 presidential election.
Davis is slender, but he is only 18 and it not as though he couldn't bang in college. He has the most potential outside of anyone and - Monroe is the only one with more potential.
Re blauch: How are you determining potential? Monroe because he isn't very athletic may have less potential than the others, Potential comes from athleticism and age, maybe work ethic too. Monroe does have age going for him, and Udoh has that going against him but to me the most important thing to potential is athleticism. That is why Davis is considered the player with alot of upside. Without athleticism you can't improve sometimes because you can't do what you can't do. Quickness, speed, hops, agility, if you don't have them you can't acquire them for the most part.
Improvement can come with hard work in the area of skills but Monroe is already pretty skilled and doesn't have as many thing to improve on as say Davis for example. All three players Monroe, Udoh and Davis can improve if they can get stronger. Udoh and Davis need to get stronger (more so than Monroe) to be able to compete at the next level. I like Udoh's handles and outside game that will allow him to do things Davis can't but he still needs to get stronger.
Udoh/Davis + weight room + creatine = Low post beast in a Jazz uni . . .
Take Patrick Patterson. He is a beast, and will only get better with a good system, great PG in D-Will to get him the ball. He will not last until #12, if he does, he's the steal of the draft for whomever gets him. He's 6'9" 235 lbs and should be able to play the 4, maybe some 5 if needed.
gordon hayward wwwhhhaaaatttt
He is white boy from baylor
What else you can say
horrible pick this high. DWill's gone in two years.
There was no one left in the draft. At least Hayward knows how to win under pressure.
He's a winner.
