Im a little worried for philpot. matheson has the pregame cash and the publicity.
@Thinkaboutit
...and the support of a majority of the voting citizens of the 2nd Congressional District.
@utah guy
And rightly so.
Matheson is about the only in office guy I support! The sad part is, He is a Democrat!!! He still gets my vote!
Mr. Matheson.. lied.. he told me that Social Security was good for another 30 years.. and we all know that isn't true. My vote goes to Mike Lee... I have had enough lies from Democrats.
This was a tough one.
While I think Claudia Wright is a strong canidate...
I also think Jim Matheson is doing a good job, based on my experiences with him.
It was tough because I thought BOTH canidates were good for this state.
What a nice change...
The challenge to Matheson came because of one of his votes: health care. Apparently, the convention delegates were more upset than was the electorate, who appreciate a moderate voice (neither wildly liberal nor wildly conservative).
I have talked with him, and he understands the need to continue for health care reform, and he understands why his vote caused the reaction it did. I think/hope we'll seem him continue to represent his constituents well... thoughtfully working toward the issues that most affect us, including making sure that everyone can have affordable health care.
Matheson is a stiff......the dude is in the tank for Obama! A vote for Matheson is a vote for more failed Liberal Obama agenda items that have crippled the country and has driven us to a soup kitchen country! Vote for Philpot and send someone who represents the common sense agenda! Matheson is toast as is Obama!
I think Matheson is a much better candidate than Wright. Glad to see him win.
@truth- Philpot is lacking in the common sense department. when ive heard him speak he has eluded that since he's a republican the republican votes are going to just come to him. Really? He seems to completely underestimate the challenge at hand. He seems like a decent guy but if he does make it to washington i dont see much getting done.
The challenge came to Matheson because he refuses to meet with ordinary Utah voters, i.e. he ducks down in his car and sneaks out back doors to avoid them. Mr Matheson is the worst representative Utah has ever had. He spent $800,000 and fought behind closed doors to get endorsements all over the state and nation to defeat Claudia Wright with her $30,000 campaign. It was David - the little people - against Goliath - corrupt corporate America. Utahns should be proud of the Claudia Wright campaign and what it achieved. Matheson won on a campaign based on fear, not on issues or his performance. Based on the issues and his performance record, the bum would be out on the street today, where he deserves to be. Good luck in November, Mr Matheson, there are still a lot of Democrats who will NOT be voting for you.
Well it was refreshing to know what Matheson stands for. He had to be a little more open about his politics because he was running against someone more extreme than he was. He's an Obama vote, and anyone who votes for him give approval to the direction of the present administration and the destruction of the liberties Obama is burying in any way he can.
I was especially captured by the Claudia Wright campaign when she hugged Tim DeChristopher. Oh wait - isn't he the guy who committed criminal fraud in the oil lease bid process? Yes, that's right. Claudia should have surrounded herself with the "activists" who vandalized mink farms. Maybe she can bring in some tree-spikers, heavy-equipment saboteurs... what the heck, invite the entire faculty from the U! Claudia positioned herself on the radical left, and wonders why Utahns rejected her? Really?
@abbygirl1994
Are you even aware the Mike Lee isn't running against Jim Matheson?
@20/20 Much better to have surrounded herself with "activists" that want to help animals and the environment than those of corporate America who outsource jobs, pollute the environment and line only their pockets with profits and corporate "PAC" donations.
She has not "wondered why Utahans 'rejected' her"..She sees that the Democrats in Utah are the party "to keep Matheson in office".
This was a PRIMARY, The Democrats again held their noses and voted for the corporate shill..Matheson.
The fact that people cannot tell who is running against who and that Utah has the LOWEST voter turnout in the nation says more than this primary.
This just goes to show that the Party Conventions tend to support radical activists more than moderate thinking people. Their power should be reduced.
