I'm so sorry for the family involved in this tragedy! I hope the boy feels like the hero that he is, because he did everything he could!

Here is a man to feel sorry about dying. A man taking his grandson fishing, a man involved with his family enjoying this wonderful world.

The tragedy is flotation devices are not just for kids.

This is so sad and heartbreaking for this grandson and their family. I hope someone counsels this child that it wasn't his fault and he did the best he could under the circumstances.

I've been teaching water safety for 8 years, please, please please people. Wear your PFD no matter how warm you think it is out. You are NOT dressing for the air temps, you are dressing for the WATER. It's cold - always cold in our lakes because of the altitude and runoff. For the want of a lifevest, this grandfather would be alive to go fishing with his grandson another day. Don't let it happen to you. This is death #3 or 4 so far this year.

Age 69 is not so elderly in this day and age. Leave out that adjective. I, too, hope the grandson just remembers the good times and to continue wearing a flotation device.
