Mormon President?
That sounds like a news source outside of Utah writing this article. I don't understand why they write it down that way.

I couldn't agree any more Chucky,

Please DesNews, I expect more from you, that's why I read your site over the other Utah papers. You could have easily written, "President Thomas S Monson arrives..." and the people who would care about this article would know who you were talking about.

The same applies to the references to the members of the church in the Phillipines. It's not necessarily offensive, but the leadership of the church has asked that media outlets use the proper name of the church.

Served in Manila but not in southern islands of the Philippines. I am glad they have a temple now so they dont hav to travel so far to Manila. God bless the people of the Philippines.

Hanksboy

Not only should you expect more, Chucky, but it's an iron-clad rule that LDS Church owned news outlets not refer to the organization or especially its leaders by the term "Mormon". I suspect someone's head has been figuratively severely bowed and bloodied, if not sent rolling, by this gaffe.

bobosmom,
The Visayans where Cebu is are not "southern" they are central. Southern is Mindanao, an island that is larger in area than Luzon, the Island where Manila is.

This is exciting news. Keep up the good reporting. It is nice to have these articles as they happen, instead of the old way where it would not be published for another week, and I would not read it for about a week after that.

Get over yourselves! Seriously, it is not remotely important whether they use the term "Mormon President" or "President Monson" or anything else close to that. I am LDS, and this type of nit picking is so embarrassing. Church level narcissism is so unflattering to the rest of us.

So President Thomas S. Monson arrived in Cebu on for Sunday's dedication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' newest temple as before-hand, he walked through the new Cebu Philippines Temple, which is the 133rd worldwide. Then LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson congratulates Knut Klavenes, project manager for the construction of the temple.

I'll start doing cartwheels and back flips when evert State in America has a Temple, and every Country in the World has one also, till then, I could care less. That's my view.

What a stupid comment.

the temple dedication of the Cebu Temple was really great. im from davao, and we got no chance of going to cebu but we watched it thru the telecast... it was such an experience, everyone in the chapel felt the spirit when Pres. Monson entered the room... we were all in tears, very happy and feel blessed to become a member of the church..

we are looking forward to go to Cebu Temple in August...

The mormon church is going back to 'mormon' because they spent decades and billions of dollars branding "mormon". They tried to get everybody to say "Church of Jesus Christ", but it just didn't take. Nobody used it, so they have decided to go back to "mormon". I mean for heaven's sake, the missionary site is mormon dot org.
