Grand Canyon? I guess Dixie State and Westminster weren't available.
Yeah, that's a real tough opponent. Good job Boylen.
Big test for Boylen this year - will the JC transfers make a difference? This is the year for Boylen to prove that he will raise the level of this program. Get it done, Boylen! GO UTES!
I look forward to seeing the overhauled team. Hopefully these guys work hard and catch on quick. I have confidence that the staff can get it done. As always a Boylen believer and proud of it.
Go Utes
I'd go cheer for the Utes when they play in Portland. But as a BYU fan all I have is blue. Can anyone send me some red for the game?
Portland isn't a bad program, playing Gonzaga tough through the years and beating them on the road last year. BYU played at Portland two years ago. It was a small arena and ended up a home game for BYU with us having 2-3 times as many fans as Portland.
This is an excellent schedule for the upcoming season. Challenging, but not murderers row. Games at Logan State and Michigan will be tough. The key for this years squad is for them to win their home games. Now that Carlon "Cancer" Brown and Marshall "Beligerant" Henderson are gone, I like the prospective of winning 20 games. Go Utes!
Nov. 24 = Beatdown of epic proportions
I am excited for the upcoming year. I also think 20 wins is not out of the question. Our defense should be about the same and I like the idea that we have actual point guards running the offense as opposed to a rotating wing player.
Keys to success:
1. A healthy J-wat. That guy can be a stud on both ends if healthy. Did you see his post moves? Sick.
2. Who is the go-to scorer? We need to establish one. Will it be glover, j-wat, hines, or a new guy?
3. More offense from foster/washburn. We need more options in the post.
4. Nail Tavita to the bench unless the game is out of hand.
March Madness coming up!
TDS had an uncharacteristic year - obvious by the fact they won(barely) a game in the dance. Don't expect to see that again for another 20 years.
congrats on your first decent season in 20 years cewgs, don't get used to it. You can go back to being a nonissue for the next 2 decades. See ya in 2030!
you are a disgrace chris.
Christopher, Christopher, Christopher
I am cautiously optimistic about the coming year.
Ben
I would add that we need the point to lead on the floor and get everyone involved.
Go Utes!
I'm glad AD Hill is sticking with Boylen. I still think he's a tremendous coach even though this year was a dud. We'll soon be at the top of the mwc though, with tds eating our dust. Until that happens, we have a year of tds football going .500 to look forward to!
Adams State, Grand Canyon, Montana, Weber State, Oral Roberts, Fresno State, Pepperdine, and Oregon at home
Not exactly a lineup that's going to excite very many of the Utah fans who bailed on the Utes last season to return to the HC.
The Utes will be probably able to win a few more games, but their RPI could end up even worse than last year with that schedule.
One thing is certain, if Boylen's JC transfers don't gel quickly enough for Utah to at least finish with a winning record, this will be Boylen's last season with the Utes.
Big Ben and Utah County Ute,
That is exactly the kind of self moderation I think these boards need more of. Ute fans keeping other Ute fans from embarrassing ourselves. Way to be.
And Oregonian, as a BYU fan, you are representing your school well too. Thanks.
Also, I'll just throw in that I'm a Boylen believer myself. While I don't think we should expect things to instantly turn to gold, I'm hopeful that he can slowly and surely lead us up the hill to a better program.
Big Ben, Utahcountyute.
utah seems to be on trck with football, looking at a third Ten-win season.
I'm not a fan of Boylen. I miss the days of Majerus, and how he used to get under Roger Reid's skin.
Rose is a likable guy, and BYU seems on trck.
I hope either Boylen gets his act together, or the Utes realize it's not going anywhere and they bring in someone to get them on track.
Here's to BYU and Utah!!!
Even with this watered down schedule.....the good news is we are now down to 9 months until Boylen is fired and we can get a REAL basketball coach. Boylen is the worst hire in the history of the University of Utah.........horrible, horrible coach! 9 months, tick tock, tick tock, FIRE BOYLEN!
Looking forward to the Utes visiting Cache Valley. We always roll out the red carpet for Boylen.
I do think the Utes will make a nice recovery. We always root for Utah when they are not playing the Aggies.
It is obvious why Utah has such a soft schedule this year. BYU has the same problems getting the big boys to come out and play. BYU beats them and Utah drags down their RPI, it is tough scheduling.
utah is going to win it all this year!
Not just sweet 16, Final four, but win it all!
We have a storied past.
GO UTES!
Saw an early Vegas line out on the Grand Canyon game, they've got Utah by 2.5. Think I'll take Utah.
RE:Go Big Blue.
What are you talking about? You always roll out the red carpet for Boylen? He's been to the Spectrum ONCE in his career. Remember that assault on the scores table, the stomping, screaming tirade, how bout the verbal exchange between him and Stew??? The man is crazy and I hope you're joking.
