Note to 3A coaches: If you base your votes on anything other than the performance of the girls then you significantly reduce the integrity of this list! You have a responsibility to the girls who earn this honor, whether they play on your team or not.

To Just sayin'. The D News does NOT let Coaches vote for their own kids. That's what makes this such a great Honor. They're not on the list simply because they know how to suck up to the Coach.

Congrats to Park City's Laura Kubicki for making 2nd team... but,how the heck did this girl not make the 1st Team All State?

Led the State in HR (10), 2nd in 3B's (5), Tie for 1st in 2B's (11). .636 Ave, 1.409 Slugging, 43 RBI's and only 2 K's in 71 PA's. Stellar D at SS. By far the best offensive year in 3A in the state.

In Region X, hit .563 with 3 HR's and 1.031 Slugging.

Only ONCE during the entire season did she go consecutive AB's without a hit. PHENOMENAL Season! For any player on any team! A shame the other coaches didnt look at the Des News stats and give her the recognition she deserves.

I agree with you on Laura, even though I didn't see her play, her stats speak for itself. It seems that you have to make it to the tourny to become a first teamer.

DNEWS stats in ANY sport are average at best. That doesn't mean this girl isn't the real deal, it only means that so many coaches pump up the stats for their own team and others don't really care that these stats are a poor indicator of who is good and whose is not.
