They must have heard that, after 3 years, my boss decided to increase pay for all his workers ... Well, easy come, easy go!

They get permission to raise rates but they NEVER Thank their paying customers for the money. Dodge and Chevy, as well as the banks, took our tax money and I still haven't received a Thank-You card in the mail. It really makes me bitter towards Dodge and Chevy, and that's all I drive. I guess I'll have to look closer at FORD.

i am so tired of hearing about cost of inflation etc etc...if folks were not so greedy a loaf of bread would still cost 50 cents...the stock market is a sad institution that fosters greed. i believe in making a buck but come on...100% profits are a joke. 5-10% profit is all that is necessary to make a living in this world.

A profit of 10.35% is pretty rich nowadays. It was OK when customers could earn 6-8% on their investments. Now their customers earn a mere fraction of that! Perhaps Questar's profit allowance should be more in line with the alternative investment opportunities of its customers.

To dave31. You must work for them. I would be able to have an opportunity to make money if I weren't being taken advantage of by the monopoly utility companies out there. They are a utility company, they shouldn't be in it for profit but....

To BYUHOCKEY:

Please don't use BYU in your Screen Name if you are going to post comments like that. Inflation has nothing, let me repeat, nothing to do with greed. Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. Ultimately you can thank the Federal Reserve and every entity who impacts the money supply for inflation. That includes banks, the US Treasury, anyone who makes or receives a loan, and yes, even you and me when we increase our propensity to spend a marginal dollar that lands in our pocket.

(A side note to Marine: Chevy did go on national television to thank us taxpayers. Sending out cards to all of us would be expensive and waste trees :)

I thank the reporter of this article for letting us know about Utah Clean Energy.
According to their web site, they are a non-profit, non-partisan organization wanting to help build a clean energy economy.

It was on that site that I discovered ORMAT, the company that builds geothermal plants here in Utah. Their web site is interesting.

And the price of natural gas is down. You got to love the invisible hand of the free market.

Question. Who in California weathered the Enron Crisis? It was people in publicly owned utilities.

My2Cents

It's time for the PSC to stop guaranteeing returns on investments as a basis for customer rates. This guarantee is inflationary and ridiculous. Controlling costs to consumers is what the PSC should be doing, not guaranteeing business profits.

Now if only the PSC would do something about the excessive rates with Rocky Mountain Power, the most expensive utility rate we have. It's almost criminal fraud with the rates they charge, and it's also based on company profits. Profits can and are manipulated to profiteer off of the consumers.

The PSC should have complete access to company files and records of all utilities if they are going to guarantee profiteering.

I guess you're right. That would be a waste of trees. Perhaps they can give us a car for a discounted price. I can't believe that I'm leaning towards buying a FORD now just because of this issue.

Always remember their ads, "If you conserve, you can save!" What a crock. Conserve gas and they raise the rates because they are not getting enough money. Ohh, I am not saying we should not be wise with our usage but for them to suggest that we will save money by conserving is a total lie. Take a look at your water bill these days.

The price of natural gas 3 years ago was between $13-$16 to the gas companies. Now the price of their raw product has gone as low as $3 and up to $5.50 which is less than 50% of what they were paying just 3 years ago.

I could understand a rate decrease, but an increase in the current economy is unforgiveable.

A little restraint shown by these companies could go a long ways in helping customers deal with the slow economy.
