Sounds like an amazing guy.
Tough as nails little guy who has probably surprised the heck out of a lot of people who didn't know who he was.
"That little old guy just beat us to the top of Timp by an hour!!!"
It is certainly understandable that he is concerned about warming on Everest.
However, I don't think science has proven that we can change it as his banner says we can.
I saw a film on Utah educational TV that showed how strikingly the Himalayan glaciers have melted. It explained that millions of people in several countries are dependent on the glacier water runoff, and how devastating it would be if these waters dried up.
If you think the world has political unrest now . . . .
I applaud the efforts of Apa Sherpa to bring attention to glacier shrinkage, and of his efforts to de-junk Mt. Everest. He is a true steward of the earth.
This is such a difficult accomplishment, that most people who do this, do it only once, once is enough, these people have it seems to them stretched themselves beyond what they ever thought they could. It is amazing this guy is so tough he can do it again and again with seemingly little exertion on his part.
I'd like to see him climb to the peak of the tallest mountain above SLC.
what matter most that he laid the foundation to do the cleanup. All climbers should do the same by bringing their belongins back to earth plus others who left theirs.
Just think of the clean-up that several troops of boy scouts could accomplish on that mountain!
