If you like the desert, you may be surprised at what beauty can be found if you explore this area. Also, the weather is milder here than the Wasatch Front.

There's that darn elephant again. For without Utah's unique culture there would have been nothing of value to market Wendover.

I remember riding the 127 miles from SLC to Wendover as a kid. That ride seemed to last forever when your eight years old. Then, it was a two lane highway were you might have to drive through a mix of oil and gravel put down by UDOT. This was great for paint and windshields.

Wendover was a outpost that offered fruit that was forbidden in Utah. It was that fruit that made the drive bearable for many Utahns.

Funny returning to California, Wendover still symbolizes a passage from the arcane to freedom. In Utah their the cultural oppression and In California there's the oppressive traffic. I really enjoy transversing Nevada with the scent of sage, big skies and empty valleys.
