Where's the information about the lecture? This article seems incomplete. Important topic.
So our facists president has his cronies out there, lecturing us not to call him a facists....just like it was most likely a white guy that didn't like health care that tried to blow up time square. Or the white officer that acted stupidly. Or the oil well he allowed to leak to destroy fishing grounds of white fishermen....

So glad that the civility teachings are setting in so well with you Ted.
Fascism is extreme conservationism. It's corporate control of government.
Once, in high school, taking government was required.
How can we take Ted seriously if he does show a rudimentary understanding of government. It figures Ted seeing promoting civility as a element in a vast plot.
Civility - code word for roll over, conservatives. Right up there with bipartisanship.
Democrats are currently in power because Republicans were acting like Democrats. And the public decided if they were going to elect somebody, might as well be the real thing, instead of a bunch of hypocrites.

Why didn't you finish my statement. Oh wait the president accusing white people of horrible actions and crimes (when he has no evidence or even researched it), is that civility Pagan?
Intelligent people have civilly addressed political differences since the birth of America. Incivility stems from ignorance. Incivility makes a statement about the values your parents, community and church taught you. Civility, like fairness, hope and being intelligent and the best have all been morphed skillfully by conservative propagandist to be pejoratives.
"Why didn't you finish my statement. Oh wait the president accusing white people of horrible actions and crimes (when he has no evidence or even researched it), is that civility Pagan?"
What the hack are you talking about?
Ted, you can't be a liberal and be a fascist. For some reason this papers loves to censor me when I try to point out, in the English language, fascism is corporate ownership of government.
I'm amazed at your comments.
'Why didn't you finish my statement.' - 11:39 a.m.
Ted, why would I continue talking to you? Would you call me a Facist? A nazi? Would you question my legitimacy to be an American citizen? Accuse me of being an elitist? Marxist?
These are all insults, by the way.
Also, why finish the story that Obama had a beer with the white officer who 'acted stupidly.' Or that not only white people are fishermen?
You look for racisim where none exist. And fail to acknowledge others.
Glen Beck called Obama a racist. Do you know if they have ever met?
Good day to you Liberal Ted. Since you do not know what an insult is, or that it is insulting to call people names, there is no further point in responding to you.
Just because not everyone is for obama huessein and his agenda.
What we need to do, is everyone who is for huesseins ideas can be taxed and receive the services. If you don't want his services then you can opt out of being taxed and purchase your goods and services in the private industry.
Pagan said: "Since you do not know what an insult is, or that it is insulting to call people names, there is no further point in responding to you."
And that is how people like Pagan negotiate. Make sure they get all of their jabs, take the holier than thou road, and cut and run.
How do you know I don't know what an insult is?
Is it because I haven't allowed you to offend me?
Or is that civility that is in me?
Face it, Obama is racists. 20 years of Rev Wright talking about wiping jews off the earth and taking everything away from the white man that "gained" everything from the slave trade. Is that not racists?
Tell me pagan. Is ignorance bliss?
Also, why finish the story that Obama had a beer with the white officer who 'acted stupidly.' Or that not only white people are fishermen?
Let's finish that story. The white officer left still firm in his position, Barack was still convinced of his, and the black professor still felt that the white man is after him.
That's change we can believe in. Why didn't this president who talks about being transparant and would admit mistakes, unlike the previous one. Why didn't he come out and say he spoke too early on that topic and shouldn't have jumped to conclusions? Instead he wastes taxpayer dollars in bringing everyone there and giving them beer.
Answer that civil pagan.
At least Bush would have said that is a local issue.
Pagan said, "You look for racisim where none exist. And fail to acknowledge others."
Was there no racism when Mayor Neygen said he will rebuild New Orleans to be a "chocolate city" for only "chocolate people"? Was I really just trying to look for it?
What if a white mayor was there and came out and said "We will rebuild New Orleans and make it a fair skinned city". And then try to cover it up by saying you don't understand fair skinned. It means bringing dark skin and white skin people together.
Just doesn't add up.
The funny thing with racism and radicals. Is that it's only racism when it's against dark skinned people. A white person is killed, raped, beaten, robbed by a dark skinned person and that is social justice for all of the slavery that went on.
It's time open your eyes pagan.
Racism is racism no matter what the skin color. I'm against all racism, not just what favors one race. Because if you favor one race that is racism in itself.
Pagan said, "Glen Beck called Obama a racist. Do you know if they have ever met?"
Have you ever met me? Why is Glen not allowed to call someone racists? Is it because he is white?
In your world and definition. Define what a racists is? What is a racists person?
Good for you Liberal Ted! I'm glad to hear that you are going to refuse money from Social Security and health care from Medicare when you become eligible for it. I'm also clad to hear you think Utah should refund all Federal tax dollars (right now several million) spent in the state over and above the amount of Federal tax dollars Utahans send to Washington. Glad to hear it.
@dnpearce - How about we phase out Social Security and Medicare in favor of private options? Social Security is neither social (taking money from one to give to another), nor is it secure - it's going broke. Medicare is even worse - just ask the doctors who are going broke on Medicare patients. As for federal tax dollars - a lot of them come with requirements that actually cost more than the money they bring in to a state. How about we limit the activities of the Federal Government to those enumerated in the Constitution? If you want something that's not in there, fine. You can always work for an amendment.
Demisana-
Bravo!
Anyway, back to civility - I think the point is that if I disagree with someone I can either point out that I disagree with you by saying "I disagree with you on point A, B, C...and we can discuss it or I can say, "I disagree with you you homophobic, mysogynistic, nazi, socialist, ignorant wimp" Disagreeing in the first instance is civil and disagreeing in the second instance is not. It is a great personal attribute to stand up for what you believe and to be able to do it in a civil way makes you a better person not a sellout. My perception of our modern society is that too many of us can't disagree without get all lathered up about it. It appears that we can't express our differences unless we get mad first. Guys like Glenn Beck can't just express that he disagrees - he has to insult and demean people. He has to turn the public discourse into a bloody car wreck so that everyone will stare - that's how he sells his show. It's a shame that we can't disagree without being disagreeable.
