Tryout for the PAC-10?
Since their opponent and 6 of the other Sweet 16 teams are from the PAC-10, this may be an opportunity for the Cougs to show that they belong.
We are waiting to greet you at the CWS in Oklahoma City.
Go Cougs!!
Way to go girls and coaches what a fine win against some terrific competetion keep up the good work.
Arizona is going to be tough!!
It's Arizona that needs to watch out. If BYU can beat Texas in Texas, twice, they can beat anyone. No home fans will be behind the team this time.
Good luck and no BYU only played Texas once and twice against E Carolina. Lady Cougars, you can do it and have fun.
May be a minor point, but it bugs me all the time...all too often people refer to female in athletes in college (and even at the pro level sometime) as "girls." 19+ year old females are women, not girls. We don't ever ever see people call college age males, boys, do we?
Again, may seem trivial, but at the heart of it, I believe, is an unconscious motivator that gets born and bred within us that results in our not viewing females as respected equals of men.
DHinChas, no one cares
DHinChas,
What are Major League Baseball players called? The Boys of Summer.
Get over yourself.
re: RR @ 12:43 pm
Unfortunately, the Lady Cougs are going to have to fight through another tough team on their home field, as the Super Regional has been assigned to the home of the higher-seeded team-in this case # 10 Arizona in Tucson.
Hopefully, a few hundred BYU fans from the surrounding stakes will show up to take some of the edge off the home field advantage.
Go Cougs!! Only two more wins to qualify for the CWS in Oklahoma City.
Trust us, "if you come, we will be there for you!!"
Go Cougars! Hope you beat Arizona and make it to the Softball World Series.
This is the first time I've really paid attention to women's softball. But since BYU was playing Texas I made it a point to watch the game on the internet.
I have a question. I don't know how the rules in softball compare to baseball but it seemed to me that because the last fly ball was a foul ball in the outfield and it appeared to me that by catching the foul ball the Texas left fielder really had no chance of throwing the runner out at home plate. So, shouldn't the Texas left fielder have purposely not caught the foul ball so the runner would not have been able to tag up and advance to home? BYU had the bases loaded and would most likely have scored anyway. But, I just thought it was poor judgement for the left fielder to catch the foul ball when there was no chance she was going to be able to throw the runner out at home plate. Any comments????? Go B.Y.U. If you can beat Texas certainly you can beat Arizona.
