Wrapping up the year in sports, Davis' resume will include state championship appearances in boys/girl soccer, football, basketball, and runner up in boys/girls track, and girls XC. 8 region championships, and success in other sports. What a great year for the Davis student athletes. Congrats to the boys soccer team for an unreal year of soccer, go Darts!
WAY TO GO DAVIS!! Fantastic game and props to Fremont, they are a great team too and were on an incredible roll coming into the championship game.
Now ... why is it that the D-News still insists on identifing the 5-A State Champions as the 3rd ranked team?!!? They are NUMBER ONE!!!!!! A
Congrats to Davis for your win. Defense was truly the soul of your team in the championship game. Even Davis fans will have to admit that Fremont gave Davis all they could handle. Region 1 truly rocks!
Say no more.....Davis County is the soccer capital of Utah. It's in the record books, wow congrats to Davis HS they have been deserving of this all year long. Sandy City schools are getting way to much press of late.
The "D" news will alway's down play Davis County teams because it is locaited out of the main stream of there readership. The Salt Lake teams and schools will continue to dominate its sport stories as higher ranked teams and so on.
SO WHAT !! The #3 ranked team and the #5 ranked team played for the Trophy and it was fought over by two schools from Region 1, up north, in Weber and Davis counties.
So down play and rank the teams from region #1 where ever you want they will just keep exposing the "D" news bais...
Davis Rocks !!!
@ Big Hapa
Well in the past their judgments of the salt lake area teams has been right on. Prior to this final the last 5 state championships came from sandy, all salt lake county teams. 1 year out of the last six was dominated by Davis county teams and you think the DN is biased? Not very logical Big Hapa
Congratulations to Davis for a stellar season.
Note on setting a new defensive record, "goals against during a season"...
Davis played 17 games in the 2010 season to set that goal...4 goals against. Amazing.
Brighton had 5 goals scored against it in the 2006 season. They played 20 games that season.
davis played 20 games. their record was 19-1. 4 goals against...not only did they have one fewer goal scored and played the SAME number of games as brighton, they actually WON the state championship as well.
Laurels:
The 4 goals against Davis included the playoffs. Thus, there were 4 goals in 20 games.
