We are so lucky to live at a time when medical breakthroughs, such as this, are making life so much more than just living. Thank you to all those who spend their time and efforts trying to find cures and helps for disease and illness.

I'm certain I have some sort of these tremors it is a family trait. I'm ok as I am still young so I really only notice it during stressful or physically exhausting times. Who knows maybe someday this procedure will better my life. Very cool indeed.

This procedure sounds a lot like Trepanation, perhaps the oldest known surgical procedure. (According to Wikipedia) this surgery dates back to at least 6500 BC. Trepanning was used to treat health problems related to intracranial diseases like epileptic seizures, migranes, and mental disorders. Still its good to live in a modern age where there at least use an anesthetic.

My brother had this surgery in 2007 and he has no regrets. He can do so much more now. He looks better and he feels better. He is more productive at work, he can plays sports again and feed himself without his hand shaking. Meds for the symptoms lose their effectiveness over time. Its more than a simple hole drilling. The DBS procedure is a Godsend for people suffering from tremor disorders.
