Sounds good. Many more people suffer from depression than is known publicly. Some self medicate with alcohol. Most LDS do not, but this sounds like a good way for extra opportunites of therapy.
Not all depressions are the same and I am not just referring to their severity. Some depressions are due to early childhood environmental programming (garbage in-garbage out). Some are situational induced, and while very painful, they can be perfectly healthy in terms of maturational development. And others can be induced by neuronal bio-chemical production and neuronal imbalance. I also believe there is a depression that is spiritual in nature.
I think it would be hard to say that all depressions can be cured by phone, or even that all can be cured by counseling and/or mood-enhancing medications. In fact, there are some that can’t be cured or reduced. In any event, it's good that professionals are attempting to deliver help to those that can be helped but are not being helped due to inaccessibility, since depressions can be inescapably painful.
sounds good too but only to those people who are not hearing impaired. Why not free in house service to those hearing impaired people. Yes I know there is RELAY but that is not going to work.
I'm just glad to see a study for depression that doesn't involve pills. A loved one in my family spent a year being medicated for bipolar depression that only made things worse.
He then went to a new Dr., told her he didn't want any drugs, and now he's MANAGED - there is no "cure" for depression. He's happy, healthy, and successful in his field.
If this form of treatment helps people gain control over their lives than it's good.
