Not good enough.......
That's surprising, since according to ESPN he impressed a lot of people with his workouts. Some GMs thought he was the second best PG in the draft and expected him to go early in the 2nd round.
And you are? Why all the hate in Utah about a good player?
Jimmer is not even a top ten player in the MWC. He is an ok shooter, but terrible passer and even worse defender.
With a few great additions by coach Boylen, look for the tide to turn and for Utah domination this coming year, in both football and basketball. TDS will hover around .500 in each sport, while big brother will have a good shot at a 3rd bcs game. And the ball team will match tds's best year in 20 years with a win in the tourney
Go UTES
Let's see how classless the yewts get on this post.
They're just upset this means a couple more losses for them again next year
Jimmer can look forward to two easy wins next year against the sorry Utes. Seriously, it will be too easy.
Just hope he doesn't get a headache some time next season - or he'll miss another couple months.
Everything about tds is a joke. They are not even worth mentioning in the CURRENT sports world in any sport.
There will never again be two teams with national prominence in Utah. Only one. TDS will never have speed and athletics and will never achieve anything worth mentioning like a final four or bcs.
Mark it down. Kewgs will NEVER play in a big game in any sport again.
re: Chris B
Typical, clueless response from a BYU hater.
Name me 10 players in the MWC who are better than Jimmer, and give me stats to back up your silly opinion.
BYU will be in the thick of a 4th MWC championship in the last 5 years, will win at least 80% of their games, and will be making their 5th straight trip to the Big Dance.
That team up on the hill will be doing well if they can win enough games to keep Boylen from being fired.
Heck, maybe he just wants to finish his education and become more competent to function in the world. Just in case, mind you, because you never know where life might take you. Look at a certain world-class (no, not just world-class, but class-of-his-own sports star who didn't return to Stanford, and what happened to him. Another year of education never hurt anyone. :)
Did I call it or what. Hey... this is good news for BYU, which should now have another "won and done" 30 win team this upcoming season. Something for Cougar fan to look forward to. GO.... er... nevermind.
This is great news for BYU and all Cougar fans.
As for the Utah trolls, the number of Utah fans slamming Jimmer will be in direct proportion to how scared they are about the Utes having to face Jimmer for another year.
Going early in the second round would be a dream for most BBall players. For Jimmer, that is short of his expectations, and also does not guarantee he will get to play in the NBA.
He has his sights set high, the talent and work ethic to go higher with another year of college ball. If he can improve on this year he will be a top 15 pick.
Man, the hate from the Utah fans is really special to see. What a special player Jimmer is to get them out so viral, so quickly. The better the player, the stronger the hate. Collie, Hall, it all follows...
I agree With my good friend "Chris B." -- "There will never again be two teams with national prominence in Utah." -- Majerus years were marginal with a few good years, but never any consistency.
BYU was, is, and will be the only team that ever consistently has the national spotlight.
Utah had one game in the past 50 years, one Sugarbowl, and it will be another 50 before it happens again if the Utes continue as they are.
Nice job Jimmer. Looking forward to watching you play in Cougar Blue next year, and in the NBA for many years to come (Ainge, Roberts, Kite, Young, McMahon, Wilson, Christensen and so on and so on...).
Oh, and props to Alex Smith (wouldn't want to appear biased.)
And re: All the Ute Trolls... Why, between the Chronicle, and you Ute fans, do you complain about Max Hall and then go out of your way to prove him right day in and day out???
Trueblue
Why the name calling? Trolls? Disapointing. Chris B is clueless like a ybu fan. hmmmm.. I wonder....
Buster
Jimmer is a good guard. Still has not won a big game to be great though. Kind of like Hall.
Wow. If this could happen, just think what else might be possible in this crazy universe!
Jimmer has been recognized by many professional scouts as a terrific basketball player. When Ute fans attack Jimmer and claim that he isn't very good, it's only an indication of how little they know about basketball and how much hatred dwells in their heart.
Sad, but predictable. Since the athletic program at Utah is on the decline (Utah gymnastics excepted), the "fans" from the school on the hill have nothing left to do except turn their bile and venom towards the Cougars.
I am also amazed at the hate expressed by the Utah fans who commented here. Or should I say East Salt Lake fans to match their TDS stupidness.
Had not Jimmer been sick, BYU would have beaten NM in both games, won the conference, earned a better dance seed, and frankly we would not be having this discussion. Another aspect of the serious illness that messed up his year after the Arizona game is that the haters would be happy because Jimmer would be turning pro and be out of their hair.
Another element that must really rub the haters is that the TDS has out recruited ESL last 2 years. ESL wanted Haws and Davies last year but got no where fast. Ditto this year with Collinsworth and Rogers. In fact ESL had to watch the the winning battle over USU.
It is really sad because BYU and Jimmer had an excellent year. The hater's team did not and that may well be why they are so hateful toward Jimmer and his teammates.
With a healthy Jimmer and the new additions, BYU will have another excellent year. Should be fun. But the ESL commentors will still hate.
wow what a loser uties who are snooping at our board. Jim Boylen already getting some miganes before his announcement coming back. Sorry u up north! Go Cougars and another great year.
Fredette's weakness is defense because of a lack of quickness. Having said that he is a great player. Offensively he can complete. Right team he could definitely play in the NBA. My guess though would be Europe. That still equates to a great player.
Jimmer is a good college player, and might be able to do a little on an NBA team, but would never be more than average at best. He could be a good professional Europe player. He was smart to come back to BYU.
Chris B., I would also like to see a list of 10 players in the MWC who are better then Jimmer, with stats to back it up. Heck, I would like to see you try to make a list of 5 and back it up.
