The diocese was already in shambles from Tanner-Irish's "leadership." It is interesting to note that all the candidates save the one from Cuba are bureaucrats from other dioceses, e.g., "Canon for Deployment and Vocational Ministry" or "Honorary Canon". The one from Cuba actually is a rector of a church - one that has seen steep decline.

But given the state of the diocese of Utah, it is hardly surprising that they can't find even mediocre candidates.

Just two comments: I trust that the Candidate from Cuba is legal or has his U. S. Citizenship; and I hope Candidate Barlowe DOES NOT get elected because he is "Openly Gay" I think that we have had enough of that nonsence.

** "The Rev. Canon Juan Andrs Quevedo-Boscho, of the Diocese of Long Island, N.Y., was the only candidate who declined to answer the question, saying it would be "irresponsible" until he has learned more about local Episcopalians and what their desires are." **

Very interesting. Does this mean that 1) the Episcopal Church does not have a clear doctrine on this subject, or 2) bishops are free to adopt whatever doctrine they think their parishioners want?

The Apostle Paul wrote about the followers of Christ being "tossed to and fro, carried about by every wind of doctrine..." The Lord Himself referred to the rock upon which His church was to be built. Regardless of my religion, I would want to know whether my church and those who lead it are a rock with a lighthouse or a windsock flapping in a new direction with every change in the social climate.
