Here's a suggestion, close down Cottonwood High and Bonneville Junior since you have to bus all of the students over from the west side of the valley to even have enough students to fill the classrooms.

Stop bussing students from the west side to the east side. If parents want their little “darlings” to go to school on the east side to get away from the “Latino” influence, then these parents need to provide transportation for these little darlings. There is a provision that says just that but, for some reason if a student attends an east side junior high, a school bus is provided. These pompous parents need to furnish these rides not my tax dollars.

@ Spiff - I think I agree with you, but I just want to make sure. Where I live in Taylorsville, Granite school district has told us that we have to take our kids to the east side (Cottonwood High and Bonneville Junior). For me it has nothing to do with escaping the Latin influence. These kids are just going to the school the district tells them to, all the while passing 3 or 4 other junior and senior high schools on their way. I'd rather they attend the local schools!

the reason the district busses kids to those schools is to offset overcrowding in west side schools. Do you prefer putting those kids in overcrowded portable buildings?

Spiff

@Bazinga - I am talking about kids from Magna, West Valley, and Kearns areas. I have a stop by my house, and know parents that sent their kids to the east side. It also happens that these same kids are from family's who tend to think they are better than other family's in the area, and have expressed the "Latino" influence. I understand the Cottonwood High boundary nonsense.

@ puckey77 - That's exactly my point. Why do they have a school on the east side that they can't fill? Why not have more schools on the west side?

Spiff

@puckey77 - Overcrowding is a non-issue. Parents send their "little darlings" to the east side because they can and that's O.K. I just want these same parents to pay for their own decisions, not from my taxes.
