Many communities save databases of DNA -- the last I heard, Utah was refusing to do so. The theory presented for the refusal was that it would be unfortunate if some of the DNA records did not match what is in the church's geneological archives -- all across the animal kingdom, around 10 - 15 percent of offspring are NOT the result of the official pairings of the creatures represented and people are no different.
So -- the ability to track criminals or identify bodies based on DNA is being blocked by religion.
I will pay attention to geneology databases when they take DNA into consideration and NOT just what people SAY about parentage.
