When I grew up, and tragedies struck our small town in Pennsylvania, everyone helped with whatever little or larger contributions they could make. I have been so proud of the Americans helping in Haiti, making the distance of miles vanish, creating a new neighborhood.Thank you to all those who gave their time, money, and hearts in this effort.

In an earthquake lay down next to the car, but not under it. As for Haiti it has the same problem yet worse than most poor nations. It will not allow free enterprise, foreign investment, a market economy and all it entails such as private property rights and a reasonable and small bureaucracy. All the things Mr. Obama seems bent on getting rid of here.

I wish there was more that could be done. I am glad that such help is able to be given.

The 300,000 deaths from the earthquake are only part of the story. The many people like Phedeline who have suffered so badly are equaly a part.

Fortuantly some care has been given, but there is still a great amount of need.
