Looks like the men's b-ball program is so awful that even Elaine doesn't want to be associated with utah anymore.
Boylen is even running off other coaches. lol.
Move Boylen over to the women's team and find a new coach for the men.
Ern and Ted. Pretty stupid comments. The lady Ute program apparently have some problems but they are not related to the men's program. They won 20 plus games this year and seems to have some good players returning but maybe not have enough horses for a solid run at any championship. But I doubt they will have a losing season or all the troubles that seem to plague the men.
My concern also has nothing to do with the men. I see a downhill slump that seemed to start the year the "hired gun" Mitchell was brought in for one year. At the same time, several players left. The last couple of years, good players have graduated but not really replaced. This year another player chose to leave and two key starters have also run out of eligibility. Next year could be a difficult season.
Best wishes, Elaine. What an amazing career and let's hope it may continue. If not . . . you deserve every accolade given. Your successes reflect the the classy, skilled, and gifted coach you are. Thanks for the phenomenal years!
It's too bad the Utah basketball fans have missed out. Missed out on one of the exceptional basketball programs in the country. The Lady Utes. The ignorance amazes me. Even now, the comments should be congratulating COUCH ELLIOT on the excellence that has been and will continue to be LADY UTE BASKETBALL.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
This BYU grad feels that it is a real shame that women's basketball does not get stronger support from students and the community.
Can you name last years or this years final four?
is just trying to keep the only decent basketball coach Utah has.
Sad day for Utah. We can only hope she decides to come back, but wish her the best in any case.
Elaine Elliott, you are an awesome coach and a classy lady! The school and your players have all been so lucky to have you. Enjoy your time off, and good luck making your decision.
(PS: Wayne Rout, I agree with you wholeheartedly. It does not take anything away from men's basketball to admit that women's basketball is a beautiful game and the players are just as hard-working and talented. Too bad they don't get more recognition for that.)
Ah, even a Ute women's basketball article bring out the Ute haters, ERR, I MEAN, the TDS "fans".
Ernie: nice work getting the first comment on a Ute article. You must be doing an excellent job monitoring the web for Ute stories.
I've watched all 31 seasons...I'm shocked....I guess I thought this would never happen...it's been a great run. I hope you feel like coming back in a year...If not I'm on row 4, I save you a seat.
I'm pretty sure she'll be able to get a better seat than row 4.
Did she say she will miss the women of the program the most?
Well DUH!! Of course she will!!
Elaine Elliott is without a doubt the best basketball coach men's or women's the state of Utah has ever had. Probably even in the intermountain region. She has an incredible basketball mind, is a master teacher and has run a program with integrity. She has taken great athletes and sometimes not the most athletic teams and made them winners. There were some years she had a whole team full of very, very good players and then years where she only had 2 real good players and still finished on top or very near the top. Most of her players have degress and have gone on to be wives, mothers, teachers, coaches, business women, doctors, lawyers and model citizens. Elaine was fortunate to have coached under the legend Fern Garnder who helped mentor her until she was ready for the head job. Congratulations Elaine on and outstanding career. You can be proud of all your players and the program you have established at Utah. Hope to see you back!
Coach Elliott has built and led the best basketball progam at ANY LEVEL in Utah. Bev and I have supported these Lady Utes since the mid-1970's when Lori Parish arrived from Davis H.S. as a freshman.
We still count the staff and players as friends.
She deserves all the accolades she has received and time off for a year. Best wishes and congradulations, Elaine.
Go Utes!
According to her team's record, it looks like she took a sabbatical THIS year.
Gosh, we are going to miss having a wonderful and smart basketball coach up at the U. The best teacher of the game I've ever, ever seen. She can do so much with whatever she gets.
WE WILL MISS YOU!!!!!
Hill asked her to coach the mens, she needs some time to decide.
To Huh? above. What's your record?
