Any chance that those of us who watch Conference on line can see this documentary on line??
You might try watching conference on the "BYU-TV"
'on-line' feed. From it looks like from reading the story, the folks at BYU-TV created the documentary so they're going to want to show it on "their stage" first. It's this thing "popular" among "broadcaster types" called "Exclusivity". In a case like this to me "Exclusivity" is synonomous with "selfishness". But that's the way most "broadcasters" think.
I'm sure the documentary will make it to the main feed of the Conference Sessions down the road later.
With the high number of people wanting internet access to Conference, it might "log jam" on both the "regular" on-line feed as well as the "BYU-TV"
on-line feed. Good Luck.
I'm glad that we have the Dish Network at home;
Channel 9403 for BYU-TV.
BYU TV doing a documentary on the Chior? I am impressed..... But seriously I thought this was a big deal, it is like BYU doing a documentary on the SLC Temple. Obviously we have not become maintstream.
More diversity please.
I too would like to see the Choir accurately reflect our rich and culturally diverse Church membership. We now have members in over 100 countries, but I fear that when non-LDS watch the Choir perform that they must wonder if there are any non-caucasians in our Church. What a wonderful missionary tool a diverse Choir could be. Just my 2 cents. I do enjoy the Choir though.
There is some diversity in the Choir. I realize that it is a small percentage. There are several Asians, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, and some African Americans. Alex Boye, who has had
a singing career as a soloist, sings in the Choir with another African man and an African American sister too. Alex, who comes from England, has done many African American Spirituals, as a soloist with the rest of the Taberncale Choir backing Him Up! This happened during the last Pioneer Day concert and a recent "Music and the Spoken Word" near Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
The Choir is becoming More Diverse, but it is slower than the overall church membership. Remember, the first job of the Choir is to Sing
with a Polished, Professional, Sound as its First Priority. Having "diversity" for the sake of "diversity" would detract from the first priority.
Remember, Also One of the Requirements of the Choir is also to live within 100 miles or so of Salt Lake City to be close Enough to Practice and Perform regularly.
Utah is still not as diverse as other parts of America and the rest of the world. But "diversity" is increasing....
