Objection to forced health insurance, deceitfully called Health Care Reform, is more than about abortion or the cost; the whole bill is against freedom, our Constitution and faith in the power of God.
America is the home of the brave (? fear catastrophic disease?, having form of godliness, denying the power?)
Land of the free (insisting on forced insurance?)
God shed His grace on thee (we are saved by faith in God's promises)
Crown thy good with brotherhood (voluntarily helping those in need, no insurance, no insurance needed.)
After this vote on mandatory insurance, will America be beautiful, brave, free, and crowned with blessings due a people who truly believe in the power of God? Or will we be a land enslaved to pay insurances and medical bills because we live in fear?
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation. (Being saved from enslavement to pay forced insurance payments, control over all aspects of our life and saved from perpetual bondage.)
Come out from among them, be not conformed to the world, Fear Not. (God means what He says; it is our protection.)
I know people who are unemployed without insurance. Charities in the area are covering their medical care. I prefer donating to charities rather than being forced to pay the federal government.
Well, Emily, since you gave four-fifths of your column to those demonstrators 'FOR' ObamaCare, we will conclude that you may be slightly biased in that direction. However, since Jim has announced that he will vote 'NO', we probably also should conclude that Madame Pelosi has her plurality without Jim's vote and is letting him off the hook. Is this a sad day for America or what??
Universal health coverage is not a right and is not guaranteed in the Constitution. It is a worthy goal. But this bill is definitely not the answer. Why anyone would believe this president (who admitted he hasn't read the bill) and his cronies is beyond me.
It is a monstrous piece of feel-good legislation with socialistic goals which will lead to the demise of our great system. Healthcare reform is a worthy goal, but this bill will only make things worse.
Rather than tackle the whole problem at once, they should take baby steps and let private enterprise come up with a solution. That's the American way.
"Give me health care or give me death!"
Ha!
Give me food! Give me a house! Give me gasoline! Give me money!
Gimme gimme gimme!
Has anyone ever heard of reaping the benefits of your own work?
If "healthy" debate consists of pushing a man down in front of his children, hurling sexual epithets and calling people names then, yes, Deseret News, this was indeed a very healthy debate. I was there. My husband was shoved, and we had to leave out of fear for our children. Great reporting, there, guys.
I was there and it was a great rally. People on both sides actually talked to each other. It was good.
The sign said, "Give me health care reform, or give me DEBT"
not death.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers. If we all say so and wish hard enough then the money to give everyone free health care will appear, simply wish upon a star and it will happen in spite of the laws of economics, just ask the fools who support this disaster of a bill. Money comes from a magical source in DC, just ask the biggest fool of them all, he lives in the White House.
I though t you guys were supposed to be LDS and conservative. This health reform bill is a joke!
Let's just hope this passes. We talked to people at the rally who didn't like being forced to buy insurance. That's fine, but they should have to sign legal documents stating that if they need hugely expensive medical treatment, and can't pay for it, the rest of us will not pick up the tab (through hospitals having to treat them anyway!) The whole point is to spread the risk around so we can all be covered. If everyone contributes some in premiums, there is a pool of money big to enough to cover everyone.
I will now quit my job so the government can subsidize my health care. Then I will get pregnant say I am a refugee from a foreign country so I can get more public assistance than the deserving Amerikans who paid in their whole life. Nice work Congress!
"If everyone contributes some in premiums, there is a pool of money big to enough to cover everyone."
Right, that's called insurance. The liberals ought to consider buying some rather than spending it on pricey cell phones, flat screen TV's and elaborate tattoos. Most people without health insurance CHOSE to have it that way. Now they get to keep all their toys and we get to buy the health insurance for them.
Madness!
re: never underestimate the stupidity of people in large numbers. That's exactly the point I've been making about the "free market" philosophy of conservatives. Especially when nobody is thinking about the problem. Take care of your neighbor and shutap!
