don't seem to be all that bothered by back to backs anymore.
Congrats for Fez. Glad to see him have a great night. Jeffers seems to be coming along also.
Happiness reign supreme!
Okur illness reaped opportunity. Great job with playing time for Fes, sure he was not perfect. However, did great job. New Orleans tonight through the first 3 1/2 quarters, I counted only had 18 attempts in the paint making 13 baskets for 26 points. I guess paint points includes free throws as a result of fouls. Still it was about 40 total. Good.
The minute he came out the first time in the 2nd quarter, New Orleans went driving in the paint the first 3 possessions. I am glad Jerry sae that and he came back in when Boozer got his 3rd foul. When he was in one shot and out.
Plus couple nice moves part of his scoring.
Millsap always seems to play better at home. Impressed tonight with Matthews and CJ, CJ is doing better working on having complete offensive. Matthews scored on transition, cuts to the hole, and defensively was real good.
Boston is playing better the last few games. A tough game Monday. Tonight was expected but Fes did great. AK and Okur will be needed to beat them. For once a break. Milwaukee just won at Denver.
game. He seems to be having decent games more often. Mathews also seems to be playing pretty well.
Sloan was quoted by Siler as saying he wished he had Koufos for the PHO game.
Fez stepped up and played 41 minutes. That is a lot of much needed experience. DWill and Mathews seem to be back to normal in spite of being banged up.
How long is AK out. He makes a major difference. CJ shot well enough to make up for missing Okur.
The two player I root for the most, (if they improve, jazz much better) Fes & CJ had good games.
It was good to see CJ come out aggressive and take it to the hole, he needs to do that all the time.
The game CJ and Mathews are playing, about getting steals is good for the team and especially for CJ's activity level. It causes him to be more active on defense.
Fes will only get better with more playing time and he has a definite effect on the paint. He shows alot of promise and hopefully he can continue to get PT and improve, so he can contribute against the Lakers/Nuggets/Mavs. He got tired at the end but that is to be expected, he played alot of minutes tonight.
Milsap had a good game but I thought alot of his points came after we had a big lead. 15 boards, very good.
To all those CJ haters and or those who think Korver should get CJ's minutes. tonight is a good reason why CJ gets more minutes than Korver.Alot of the things CJ did tonight Korver can't do. Korver could never have taken his man off the dribble and slammed it or the time he took his man off the dribble and made a little finger roll lay up. Defensively, CJ is quicker, longer and able to play better D than Korver.
CJ's inconsistency is still a problem but he does seem to be playing better more often. He hasn't even touched his potential but things are looking up.
I agree CL. CJ was very good tonite. Fes was ok. Looked like rusty player coming from long absence. Play him more. He rushed some passes and shots that's why gets blocked. He need confidence, once 300 lb man rolling no one can stop it. Jazz didn't even need Boozer to score. Jazz have enough offense but little defence.
"Jazz didn't even need Boozer to score. Jazz have enough offense but little defence."
You do know that much of the offense others generate is because of the attention people play to Boozer, right?
dont give CJ too much credit; they played the hornets. lets see if he can repeat on monday against the Celtics, then i'll buy into it.
Boozer is result of system. I don't know if he could get same numbers in defferent team. He is good player nothing special. If he could play physical game he will be All star every year.
Re: slow down CL : Your probably right, CJ has been so inconsistent that you can't depend on him playing like this, but you need to rejoice when you can. Like I've said before, potential is one thing, performance is often quite another. I just like the potential I see in CJ and keep hoping he can develop and become consistent. If he can it will greatly help the Jazz. I really like how CJ is taking the ball to the hole more. I hope he will do it even more and get himself started in each game by doing that. When he drives, he often makes some really good passes (assists). The way he has been shooting the ball this year though, he will come out next game and shoot 2 for 8or9 or something like that. I'm hoping not, but consistency hasn't been his strong suit this year.
For what ever reason CJ struggles with confidence sometimes and he is one who needs to get off to a good start, build his confidence and then his whole game seems better. Let's hope he has a good game Mon. the Jazz will need it.
defense.....usually leaves that up to others. He will never be a true all star....It appears to be an attitude problem. Too bad, he could be really great but seems to lack the will to do. He is built for defense....why dosen't he do it.
Re: CL
My complaint about CJ is not that he isn't more talented than Korver. He is.
What bugs me about Miles is his inconsistency. He will play great like he did tonight and then just disappear for a few games where he plays poorly.
If he can perform reasonably well I will shut up and start rooting for him.
He doesn't need to be the star of the team but if he can consistently score 10-12 points per game, 5 rebounds and a couple of assists it will go a long way towards silencing his critics ... me included.
the jazz will have a hard time winning on the road against good teams. they always start the game so casually. like there's no urgency at all. in phoenix, i thought they were finished when the suns rolled to an 11-2 start. the players keep saying they want to start aggressively but in actual games they don't seem to care to defend at all.
as for CJ's "potential"... my goodness, he's already played 5 years in the NBA and he still play like a rookie. i wonder when his "potential" will be realized.
Korver is fundamentally better than CJ. He doesn't make as many mistakes, and is a far more respected, consistent 3 point shooter that spreads defenses. CL makes us sound as though Miles is much better than Korver, which just isn't true. I'll take a consistent player like Korver over a wild card streaky shooter like Miles any day.
not very impressed with Fes, c'mon, 8 boards in 44 min. he's the tallest guy on the floor.. even korver got 4 of them.
Fez is the player we need. Play him Sloan. A defensive presence who can give them 15-20 min a game. CJ always seems to play good in these kind of games. Wish he could do the same against good teams. Love to watch Matthews... he plays the game right.
@ak fan-so when is kirilenko going to be coming back? your boy has been called fragile. i think he's just got his feelings hurt again. if he isn't going to be there for us down the stretch, in whatever way he can, hope he comes back soon and he isn't a distraction, about 15 games left, its getting to the point where he's missing too much time, for what? however he's injuring his back, i really don't see it in the games, unless hes just really wimpy.
point is, jazz do need to get him more touches, and sloan needs to leave him on the floor.
i mean, mathews gets more minutes than anyone, i don't think its right but thats on sloan.
I agree with CL and A K fan. C. J. and Fes are important parts to the future success of this team. C.J. has been getting the minutes and is starting to become more consistant. He has a ways to go though. Fesenko, awkward and unsure, still shuts dowh the paint there is no denying that. He always is at the top for our team on the +/-. Last night he was a +32 highest on the team. He is a work in progress but once he gets the experience he needs to reach his potential LOOK OUT. The good part is that he is able to help the team NOW while he is on the court gaining this very valuable experience.
This coming week will tell us alot about the Jazz and about coach Sloan.
