Please don`t do it Jazz.
Please sign Carlos Boozer, Jazz!
It seems to me and most of my friends that Boozer started to play much better when he realized that his days drawing a paycheck were limited; and he then thought that if his play didn't improve substantially, nobody would want him as a free agent. Why don't the Jazz realize that Boozer truly doesn't want to be here, but he'll hang around if he can't find some other suckers to dish out dough to him for underperforming. It's time to find some players who would appreciate living and playing in Utah. Boozer doesn't seem to appreciate it enough. Let's let Boozer go and move on Jazz........
And, Kirilenko could be added to the list of players who don't appreciate Utah and give their all every game. Out of the people in Utah who are making millions each year, few people give less back to the community than AK-47. The Jazz and our community deserve players who appreciate what they have and perform accordingly. 'Nuf said........
Just continue to sign him 1 year at a time, that way he will play like it is a contract year and he will keep his mouth shut and play.
Sign him to a long term deal just include something about not getting paid unless he plays 80% of the games. Or even better, base his salary strictly off incentives. Although he'd never agree to either of those. He's going to get a big offer from multiple teams. I'm not sure if we'll have the resources to keep him long term. Hopefully we can turn the NY pick into something special.
Boozer has his issues, but he's still one of the top PF in the league. He'll be hard to replace.
I hope the Jazz can find a way to sign Booz, he is pretty consistent on the offensive end, defense has improved some this season. He would be hard to replace.
Milsap is not as good as Booz, even if he does hustle more and play harder. Just like last year, Milsap has been struggling lately. When Okur or AK are down and out Paul needs to step up and he hasn't been producing much different.
I would like to see the young bigs the Jazz have develop but it looks like that might take time.
If they resign him I will cry. He may get double-doubles but he gives up about 40 points a game with his defense (or lack there of) all he cares about is getting his double-doubles. Watch him, all he does on the defensive end is position himself to get the rebound instead of trying to defend his man, or help his teammates on D. He only cares about the aspect of the game that they keep stats on, I.E points and rebounds. He doesn't care if they win or lose, as long as he gets his numbers. He is selfish and I am sick of it, GET RID OF HIM and find someone that plays with heart!!!!
UNfortunately if the Jazz resign him
it will only be because sloans wants him for system.
Jazz management need to care more about the team than do about sloan.
perhaps then they would have drafted a lot better players than they did over the last decade:
LEts take look at the drafts:
2009, 2008, bad draft spots, really no one good available where they drafted, MADE NO ATTTEMPT to move up.
2007 took morris almnond, missed on aaron brooks, carl landry, marc gasol
2006 another weak draft, no attempt to move up, all considered brewer and milsap were good picks, coul've gotten rajon rondo. got nothing trading brewer, over paid to keep milsap
2005 deron willams (sloan type player), could've had chris paul, or bynum or david lee, 2nd_cjmiles, could've had turiaf, OK - but did they make the best choices?
2004 really horrible job judging talent, humphries and snyder over aljefferson and josh smith, and podkolzin over vareajo, martin and ariza
2003 Pavlovic, didn't protect him, passed on diaw, kendrick perkins, barbosa, josh howard, 2nd mo willams, then lost him, missed KORVER!
2002 brokenfoot borchardt, missed boozer, prince, salmons 2nd_sampson missed songaila, scola
nice history
I am a die hard Jazz Fan. But, sometimes other jazz fans on here make me sick. I hear complaining after complaining. Grow up people and stop feeling hatred towards someone because of some words he said. It's childish and stupid. People make mistakes and live by those mistakes. If Carlos Boozer was not on the Jazz this season we would not have a 44-25 record or be in 4th place. It would be more like 8th or 9th maybe even 10th place. If you cannot see how important he has been for us on the floor then you are blind. I understand the injury situations he has had have made people think twice. However, the year before last he had an MVP type season and killed everyone we played, with full knowledge that it was not a contract season. Injuries happen people, and can cause people to miss a chunk of games. No one is babying or complaining much about AK or Memo when they sit out. It always complaining about Boozer, it's immature and childish. I personally believe the Jazz should resign Boozer even if they pay luxury, Kirilenko's has one year on his.
Not every draft is gonna turn out perfectly... Every single team in the league could have a board exactly like this. But I guess if you want to convince everybody here that there's no point in rooting for the Jazz because the organization will eventually go down the drain and move somewhere else or whatever, go for it. Just enjoy it when they win and remember its just a game when they lose, because the people making the final decisions arent reading this and they arent listening to you, sorry man....
Really? Don't sign Boozer because he doesn't appreciate Utah? Wow. Just wow. I want the Jazz to win, I couldn't care less whether the players love Utah or not. Without Boozer, they will win a lot fewer games. I want him back.
Sounds like reality has hit Boozer. He's realized he might not get as good a contract from another team that's a possible contender, so he's talking nice now.
Personally, I'd like to see him stick around, unless Phoenix is willing to make an even swap for Stoudy!
The problem for the Jazz is unless they find a superstar PF in the draft, there's really no one who can supplant Boozer's output.
Simple as that.
I too am a die hard Jazz Fan. We cannot afford to sign Boozer. It makes no sense to have him and Milsap. If Boozer REALLY wanted to stay with the Jazz he would consider an extension. Boozer will go to whoever offers him the most money period. The power forward will always score in this system. Milsap scores... Kirlinko scored (in the only year he played it). What the Jazz need is a two who can score and a five who can play 20 min a game and be a defensive presence. Milsap, Kirlinko, Okur and Koufus can all play minutes at the four and we will be fine.
Boozer must be kept at all costs. Want to free up salary trade A.K. and Memo if some team is willing and that stupid to take our free loaders.
don't sign Boozer because..he plays too good, he is a team leader, he is recognized and feared throughout the league..there are 2 other forwards better at his position and they are ready to come to Utah?
Somebody without thinking says get players who love Utah. Lets get him from the D league as the players are cheaper there. It won't matter that he can't play very good he just has to love Utah.
Perhaps we can get the Deseret News to block people who have trouble putting reasonable thoughts together.
Boozer has saved this team this season and the people who know that met with his agent this week, hopefully Boozer can see the benefit of playing with someone like Deron and a deal can be worked out.
Let some other team take him and his arrogance and laziness. The Jazz have probably already set a value on his ability with the team and they will wait to see what someone else offers.. if it is below their value then MAYBE they will make an offer.
He really isn't needed here. I'd rather lose him and fall out of the playoffs for a couple years than keep him, go to the playoffs but never advance.
He is dead weight on a rising team.
Boozer is great against weak talent. However, he is not capable of propelling the Jazz into contention.
I could care less about Boozer's mouth. That is just Boozer. I do care about on court performance and Boozer fades badly against tall athletic line ups.
The Jazz have to do one of two things. Get someone who will not fade in the PF position or resign Boozer for no more than he is making and get wings who can shoot well enough to compensate for Boozer fading.
If the Jazz have those kind of wings then Boozer is expendable/replaceable anyway. Millsap would do with a decent cheap back up.
Amare exposed Boozer's biggest weakness. His defense.
Save the money and spend it else where. Boozer is old enough that his best years are behind him. Get some young talent and ride that.
I love AK but 17 mill will buy a lot of talent. He also is getting old.
The Jazz have to be thinking long term. Look how fast SA and BOS have dropped with just a year of age on their stars.
The Jazz are bad drafters in the first round.
can ride Millsap at PF for a couple of years while they find the right PF. That is assuming Sloan's system is flexible enough to let the SF/SG positions score more to make up for Millsap being short, foul prone and not having the inside moves of Boozer.
Boozer's 13 Mill salary will buy a lot of talent in today's market. The Jazz are much better at finding budding talent than in drafting in the first round. They have a much better idea of who will fit.
They are just starting to think long term about contending. In the past they were just content to make the playoffs and money.
Greg is a little different in management style and philosophy. I think he is actually willing to pay to win.
The Jazz have to think about the future without Boozer, AK and Sloan. If they build wisely they will be stronger than ever.
They need the right PF and C to build around. They do not have that yet. The Jazz have the fan base and revenues to get the right players.
Be patient. Get developing talent. Fix the problems. The Jazz can contend.
he will NOT be re-signed unless he's willing to take a bargin basement price & Utah brass gets a steal...But booz thinks he's a "super-star" because he yells alot on the court..He'll get a rude awakening when nobody wants to pay him a long term contract....where's my friend who thought booz is better than AMARE ????? scored pistol pete's jersey number in "less" than 3 qtr.'s !!! (44 pts.)...You were the one that said; " amare can only jump pretty high". Lets see who gets the big payday in the off season for P.F. & then maybe you'll see the light, if you don't already....AMARE ATE HIM FOR DINNER LAST NITE AGAIN !!!!! booz is too slow & he'll never be able to change that flaw; period !!!!
