i really hope utah play serious defense this time. they can never out shoot the suns. a good, aggresive defense right at the start should give them an even chance of beating the red-hot suns. if the jazz try to just shoot 3-pointers and jumpshots then this game will be over by halftime with the suns winning by a blowout.

Rhinosparky

Bold prediction: refs win this one for the Suns. Not going to let the Jazz stage a big comeback twice in a row. The NBA will do what ever it needs to to get the Lakers and the Nuggets to play in the conference finals.

Oh, Oh

I'm not convinced that not having D-Will available will hurt as much as no AK, or Matthews. Price and Gaines can "bug" Nash enough through out, but not to be able to play defense on the wings, especially with the Sun's shooters is a huge problem. Grant Hill had a great start last game, and Jason Richardson can't be expected to have another so-so outing like he did. Amare will do his usual job of scoring, and Memo will do his usual job of no defense. Perimeter defense please!

rick

amare gets less boards than boozer per game because suns have this 7 footer with big hair dew...blogger last week trying to compare booz stats vrs. Amare...blogger forgot a few little things with his statisics: these's no stats for tuffness, heart & speed; plus amare ATE up boozer last game & will do it tonite; hopefully the rest of the Jazz can p/u for boozers lack of defense !!! Let's see if boozer or Okur know how to give a hard foul like Lopez (that was dirty) did to AK-47 2 weeks ago.....

Re: Rhinosparky

You've already got a built in excuse for a Jazz loss. If they outplay the Suns they will win. I hate fans that whine about the officiating. It is what it is. Most teams play through it and the Jazz can too. They are a much better team.

Wow

Sure glad March Madness is on. The Jazz are weak and full of ticky tack injuries. Wont be watching them tonight that's for sure....keep the madness coming.

Get rid of the Jazz

re Rick

A 7 footer that gets 5 rebounds a game?

For the record, the Jazz have a 7 footer that gets 7 a game, and another PF that gets 6.

Season split for Boozer vs Amare:
Boozer 18 pts, 17.5 rbs, 3 stl, 1 blk, 56% shooting
Amare 23 pts, 6 rbs, 0 stl, 2 blk, 51% shooting.
That's not really a dominating stat line for Amare.

For a guy that you say has no heart Boozer certainly yells a lot. He seems pretty emotional to me.

And again, please do not pretend that Amare is a tuff as nails defender. He can jump pretty high, that's about it. Why else would PHX have Lopez guard Boozer and not Amare?

PurplePeopleEater

This isn't as big a game for the Jazz as it is for the Suns. The Suns can't afford home losses at this stage to ANYONE, but the Jazz can afford road losses to playoff-bound teams.

All the Jazz need to do to keep in 4th or higher is to not lose too many of their remaining 14 games. Three are likely: today at Phoenix, later at the Lakers, and even later at New Orleans. Boston could upset the Jazz at home on Monday, but I'm not counting on that happening, unless Utah's really shorthanded.

Even though the rest of the remaining home and away games should be wins by the Jazz, they'll stumble on a few, probably. Hopefully only because of injuries.

Our Jazz

Unfortunately the brutal schedule has finally caught up to the Jazz. The 2 game leads by Dallas and Denver are pretty much insurmountable. Not enough games left for us to win and them to lose to make up the difference.

Too many losses to Denver, OKC, and Minnesota. If you want to be a big-time NBA team, you have to win your division.

Rhinosparky

Not whinning about the officiating. Just know that the NBA starts to make certain teams move into the "right" spots to get to the "good" tv matchups. Do you really think there is any way that the Lakers and Nuggets and the Cavs and Magic will not te the conference finals. And I will put money on the lakers and cavs in the finals.

Stan

To OUR JAZZ:

Brutal Schedule? You mean the one we played, not the one we are gettign ready to play right? To date we have played the 3rd toughest schedule in the NBA. Of the 14 games left, 7 of those teams are below .500, including the Pacers, Wizards, Knicks, Warriors 2x. We get Boston who is down, the Raptors who are down and New Orleans (2x) and Houston who are dominating this year. Thats 10 wins out of the next 14, with winnable games against PHX 2x and OKC at home....

So, don't just say its over cause you lose to Minnesota a few times, cause I think we swept San Antonio and Portland this year, it all works out in the end.

Lets face it

AS banged up as we are right now with AK out and even though Matthews and D-Will are playing this is not looking like a win tonight.

If Deron comes out walking the ball up the floor tonight due to his injuries you can bet the Suns will win.

The NBA...

...and college basketball are so boring.

Re: Lets face it

Since when does trying to outrun the Suns work out to a good strategy for any team? The Suns are at their best when the tempo is high and both teams get a lot of possessions. The best way to stop the Suns is to slow the pace down, limit the possessions, and don't turn over the ball.
I'm not saying that slowing the game will guarantee a win tonight but it will us a lot better chance.

Re Stan

The brutal part of our schedule comes from the lack of time off we have between now and April 2. We play at least every other night between now and April 2 (including a few back-to-backs). The schedule doesn't give our nagging injuries any time to heal. Our April schedule is much more relaxed. Hopefully we can still be in good position going into April so we can get our players healthy for the playoffs.

Re The NBA

So why are you reading and commenting on an NBA blog? Or are you just trying to get people riled up?
What sport do you consider exciting?

re:re: lets face it

Actually we have beat them at their own game...multiple times.

It sounds like a good plan on the face of it slowing it down but our offense is DRAMATICALLY better when Deron pushes the ball and we execute early offense as opposed to a set up defense.

It really comes down to picking the right time to run and playing defense. That is the difference. You can easily beat them at their own game if you just play defense.

Phx is an undisciplined team who completely relies on jumpshooting and staying hot.

That is why they always get big leads and then lose them. They just shoot and shoot and shoot and keep on shooting and eventually they go cold.

They play little defense.

We need to run AND play sound defense and we win.

Like I said, go back and look at our losses and watch the pace of the game. 80% of our losses are when Deron was walking the ball up the floor for whatever reason. Either he was tired or injured or whatever but we lose most of the games when he does not push the ball.

The slowness on offense spills over to defense.

rick

you still don't get it, & your reasoning is patheitic for your love fest with boozer.you must have a short memory ! Read my blog fully before you spew !let's take it one @ a time to make it simple for you.1st of all i'm a Jazz fan since 1974 & my license plate is PSTL-44, so if boozer were better, I'd say it, but he doesn't even come close..Just because booz "yells" alot, he's tuff & has heart, are you joking ? then you say, amare can jump "pretty high" & that's it ??? he can jump more than "pretty high" & why will he be the most wanted P.F. come free agency if he can only jump "pretty high" ; wake-up ??? Amare has so much more foot speed (1st step) & quickness which is SO important in the NBA ! again, AMARE ATE-UP booz(had him for lunch) & tonite again (30 plus pts.).Since amare is SO much quicker than booz, it's the coaches decision who guards the much slower boozer.Boozer is NOT being re-sign for his big mouth last year, Mr. Miller didn't forget his classless actions.BYE-BYE boozer.

boz

will not be going any were i'm afeard

Jazzsmack

HEre's real bold prediction:

the jazz will win their 50 games,
lose in the playoffs,
get some medicore draft picks,
who most likey be will traded away and not played by sloan as rookies

they resign boozer because slaon wants himfor his system,

then they do it all over again next season,

and some stupid jazz fans will think their gr team is the greast ever, that sloan is the greast ever,

and that jazz have a shot at the championship,

seriously, happens every single year.
