Go Gov! We need more folks aware of and involved in what the feds are up to. Your actions are doing just that! This nation cannot simply ignore the elephant in the middle of the room. People must step up and get involved!
Why do I have to go to Idaho, or any other state, to find a politician that is willing to stand up for liberty? Way to go Idaho! Let's hope others will find the courage to stand up for the corrupt powers selling their souls in Washington! Our Founding Fathers would be proud! Thank you Idaho!
Excuse me! I meant to say "the corrupt power brokers selling their souls in washington"
You are really gonna waste all that money to try to defend this. WHat about the people in Idaho who need healthcare but can't get it cause its too expensive. Way to think about the people of your state???...lol
I am glad Governor Otter has the guts to do this, but don't give him too much credit. One year ago, he wanted to tax us by the mile for driving our cars to pay for road repairs on top of the gas tax. We would have to report our beginning and ending mileage when we registered, whether they were in-state miles or not. The legislature knew better than to pass it though. But, maybe he just redeemed himself.
I really don't think the law was signed to satisfy out of state political groups over the people of the State Of Idaho. These types of measures may not do anything more than signal Washington that the independent people of the West, Idaho foremost among them, won't stand idly by while the 600 lb. gorilla in the room runs rampant. Kudos Gov Otter, well done Idaho Legislature.
Utah should follow suit
What a waste of money. If there's any litigation, it will be struck down on a formality: no standing. Read the Constitution, Idaho.
He signed the attorney employment act. You conservatives can force your state's citizens to pay for your ignorant political statements. Federal law trumps state law. It takes zero courage to spend the money of other's on you senseless witch hunts. Only Utah would be stupid enough to follow this lead. The Appalachia of the West extends in to Idaho from Utah now?
WE KNOW it will be struck down by over reaching Feds. Its a statement making event! You know like our founding fathers did to the King of England! Get it now?
ONLY those things expressly stated in the constitution are federal, all others are states rights. Also, there is NOTHING, nothing in the healthcare bill that contains or limits the ever increasing healthcare cost. This bill is NOT reform; it is simply the thieft of Medicare money, the addition of new fees and taxes on working Americans and business, to pay for rationed healthcare...simply a crime!
Libs. 36 states are against this. If the majority of states fight the feds, by law, can be over thrown.
Good for Idaho. And there are 35 other states lined up to file legal action if this bill goes through. We all know we need to reform health "care" but this bill will only bankrupt the nation and still not provide affordable health care for anyone. Those that are for it - have you actually read the bill and what it provides? If not, you need to read it. (But then you would be smarter than the members of Congress that are voting on it without having read it.)
As Idaho gets about $1.30 back from the federal government for every dollar it puts in.
Hypocrisy much?
You go Idaho, You should also refuse on behalf of your state all federal funding on any sort. That will show them.
Refuse to allow any citizen in your state to receive medicare coverage, it is afterall federal health care.
Put your money where your mouth is and pay their medical cost out of your own funds.
After all the states know best how to spend health care dollars.
Also you should refuse social security, veterans benefits, and every other federal program funding.
This my friends, is why the majority of America views Idaho as a bunch of white supremacists.
The majority of citizens in the United Sates want health care reform. You will not find the states with the majority of the United States' polpulation opposing the federal government's initiative to bring health care to more people. So, yeah, it doesn't really matter what hick states like Idaho and Utah think and do because the number of people in those states are insignificant, and as this article mentions, the federal govt.'s intiatives supercede state ones.
You people who are bashing Idaho have OBVIOUSLY NOT read the health care reform bill.
Did you know that if this thing passes, you would be told by the government How much insurrance you can have? Did you know that you will be charged an extra 2.5% on your taxes if you choose not to participate? Did you know that the Federal government will have access to ALL AMERICAN Bank accounts so they can take auto deductions for your health care?
Before you jump on the "Health Care" band wagon, you had better know what it means. Otherwise you and I will loose all of our free agency that our forefathers fought so hard to obtain for us.
I think I get it. You think Idaho and Utah should declare their independence from the US. Ask the former Confederate States how well that worked out last time.
Here we go again with the same lame antics of the same lame politicos who feel that the Constitution doesn't matter. Idaho has just proven to everyone that the only parts of the Constitution that matter to them are those that they agree while the rest are to be ignored at their personal convenience. We will get to hear them quote the only part of the United States Constitution they have probably read which is the 10th amendment and they misinterpret it because they take it out of context since there is no way to put it in context if you have no real knowledge of the contents of the Constitution.
