Wesley Matthews is a gem. One of the best finds in years. He's got Jerry Sloan type player stamped all over his forehead. I wish he were my son-in-law.

More Wesley

He's a great guy too. Took my son to meet him and he was very cool with everybody - adults and kids. Even though my guy is more of a soccer player, Wesley was a big soccer guy too so he was very cool about all that.

Right on DWill - let's join the new millenium and loosen up Sunday games.

Matt Johnson

I wouldn't attend Sunday games, but I would watch them.

I guess the question is, how full could they get the arena? I'm sure there are some LDS people who could see it as a wholesome family activity (I disagree, but could see why some families might enjoy it)

They are gonna miss out on a lot of ticket sales though (season ticket holders might get upset cause they wouldn't go to Sunday games)

Fredd

Why wouldn't be a wholesome activity? I used to put Jazz tickets in my kids stockings on Christmas and we'd go to the Christmas day games. It was a great way to spend time with the family.

I think the Jazz managment is smart to request no or fewer Sunday HOME games. I won't go to those games, and while there are many that will, I think the market is considerabley reduced. So not only does it give a nod to a chunk of the fans but it is a smart business choice.

For some of us, the question isn't whether it is a wholesome activity, the question is whether attending an NBA game is "keeping the sabbath day holy" as set out in the 10 commandments.

Fredd

A previous poster said he didn't think it was wholesome. I personally think it keeps the sabbath holy, but I understand LDS might disagree.

I can see why it makes it harder on the players to not play sunday games. But it is more important to keep the sabbath day holy.

Anybody here watch the NFL? The DMN prints stories all the time about "Mormons in the Olympics", Mormons in the NFL". Steve Young and Johhny Miller played on Sundays. The Millers handicap their team and players by not scheduling home games on Sunday. Awaay games are okay?

It's there choice

I love the fact the Miller's have principles. One of the few families in SL county who do. If the Democrats in the city don't like it move or we wouldn't mind trading you to California.

Fredd

Its not their choice always. The league has other teams that have to schedule games also. An east coast team taking a swing through the west may end up with another day on the road and a short turn around on their next game.

Jazzsmack

What's going to be funny is

with all expectations of who the Jazz could draft with the NY pick.

The jazz announcing they are picking another Big white center this time from NO. Iowa.

Hilarious indeed!

Yep, good luck winning championships as long as slons running things.

now if only we could get TRUE championship type players like a chris paul...

rather than solid good guys, who fit the system, who will never win you a championship...

stockton, malone, hory, deron williams, bryon russell, milsap, eaton, ostertag, thurl baily, koufos, bobby hansen, brewer,...

and a ton of no name first rounders who never made it, they never developed them, or they left (or for greener pastures, or were traded away for nothing,

anyone see a pattern here?

and did let get away?

magic johnson, dominic wilkens, clyde drexler, bill laimbeer, antoine carr (although they signed him many years later), danny ainge, albert king (although he did have legal problems)

that is just a few in the early '80s,

but whole list is very very very long.

(2004 could have happened: al jefferson and josh smith, not humphries and synder, 2nd rd- trevor ariza not podkolzin)

Principles

It isn't the Miller's Principles that keep them from playing Sundays. It is money, baby! That's it.
