The ball did not go over the fence, Salem Hills player got knocked out, was down for about 5 seconds. Lehi had the time to run everyone around the bases to give her the grand slam, on an error. the Salem Hills player, her injury was more than minor.
Funny that this ERROR and "MINOR" Injury is being overlooked... Wait, not a suprise as last week Des News Posted that Zimmerman had 17 strike outs against Grantsville... It was 13-0 in 5 innings... DO THE MATH!!! 5 innings w/ 3 Outs per inning... Im not GREAT at math, but I think that adds up to Oh YES! 15 OUTS!!! NO WAY POSSIBLE she couldve struck 17 out... LOL... PS she had 8 strike outs in that Grantsville game. But so far Des News LOVES Zimmerman so she will continue to get coverage, good for her though cuz she is a good pitcher, I just want to see it right, NOT wrong! lol 17 strike outs in a 5 inning game, come on people. lol
To anonymous---The ball DID go over the fence on the grand slam. We watched the people on the other side throw it back into the field. Maybe you were watching the player who hit the fence and didn't watch them throw it back in and only saw it once they had thrown it back. To Lehi's attention--She had nine strikeouts against Grantsville. I'm not sure where the 17 came from but it would be possible if she struck everybody out and had two players advance to first on dropped third strikes. Just a little more math for you.
Dear Somebody who knows...first of all Zimmerman is a talented player I will give her that, her hit was a solid hit however it did not go over the fence. Both umpires did not signal any homerun signs, the 3rd base coach just kept waving her on. Again like I said it was a very good hit easy double. and that Minor injury was nothing but MINOR. I find this article very interesting granted Olsen got her inforamtion about the game from Lehi's fans. She wasn't even in the stands at the time of the so called Grand slam. After she had retunred back to the game and after the so called minor injurided player had left the game, I think we need to be more respectful of the injured player for whatever did happen to her. Lets remember what high school sports is all about, its about girls having fun and enjoying the moment.
"A little distraction" Warr? having to get three teeth cemented back in is not minor lets have some respect. Oh and ps your fences are more than 10 feet short if you were on a normal field there would be no conflict as to if it would of gone over or not cause it wouldn't have
It didn't go over the fence on it's own. It hit Jerika Durfey's glove and went over. Get a real field and that would of been caught. She would of been out. No questions asked.
NFHS field dimensions, womens fastpitch, 185'-235'. Lehi's is regulation.
WOW Z I didn't know such a great kid could stir such crazy comments. Just goes to show again if you could keep some parents under control the girls would play the game without the insanity. I hope Lehi has a great season see you at State!! Go Z and the rest of the Lehi team that has her back.
This is the guy who was standing at the fence when the homerun was hit. I'm actually a fan of Westlake. But to all who said it was not a homerun. Shame on you. I actually threw the ball back into the field because it was laying agains the other fence that was behind the homerun fence. Pretty Far I'd say. It was a homerun. Its unfortunate the girl ran into the fence and hope she is ok. But the truth is IT WAS A HR. So please allow the girls the respect that they deserve. It was a great hit and she deserves that right.
Where is the respect for the girl who got knocked out and her teeth messed up, and Lehi laughing the rest of the game about it? and the coach for lehi not showing one bit of sorry for what happen or concern-
The first base coach went out there to pick the girl up and help. If any one should of ran out there is the other teams head coach. What does Lehi coach have to do with it. That coach didn't dart out there. Lehi first base coach was the first one there. Lehi's head coach was taking care of her team, she didn't know what happen, give her a break. Stop being a poor sport and being so selfish. Think of it in a coaches standpoint. Salem HIlls would of probably done the same thing. She would of never told her girls to stop and wait for the other team. You don't play the game like that. Hopefully u have played sports and understand that. If not, stop going to the games if you feel that way. Good Luck and hopefully you will let it go
How do you get 17 strikeouts in a 5 inning game? It is possible and I'm NOT saying this happened but...2 batters can stike out and still get on base with a passed ball/wild pitch. That is recorded as a stikeout with the batter advancing on an error. This would allow an extra two batters in a game to record the extra 2 strike outs. It CAN be done but wasn't in this case, just an error in the reporting. Hope that helps
