Mathew's conditoin? Every time the jazz are on a fast break I just hope no one gets hurt. They seem to get going a bit too fast and dangerous in hopes of scoring just 2 points when getting hurt will do much more harm. Not that fast breaks should come to a stop but do it a bit more safely and controlled.
game. The first 1/2 looked like a lack luster church ball game for the most part. Injuries to William, AK and Mathews will not help in future games. But at least the Jazz did not choke again against the Wolves.
CJ played a much better overall game by driving inside later in the game, rebounding and playing D. 3 steals is very good. He still took a couple of bad shots but the clock was winding down on one.
Price played pretty well, he also had 4 steals.
Korver was lights out and Millsap played well. Boozer did his usual and Okur looks really good driving to the basket.
Best of all OKC lost. Utah is going to have trouble with them in the playoffs if they are 4/5 or 5/4.
I am not sure why Utah would not run the offense (much of the time) and just took bad jump shots in the first 1/2.
than OKC. SA could easily move into 5th place. The Jazz are really beat up right now.
CJ has to continue to play good D and go inside. He has to rebound, defend and go to the rim if AK is out. CJ has the talent, it is just getting him to play a complete game. Korver is playing well.
With Williams so beat up, Price has to run the offense first and shoot second. He did better tonight. He made a bad pass or two but played decent D. On a good night I could become a Price fan.
The Jazz seating has a lot to do with injuries to Williams, AK, Okur and now Mathews. The injuries mean that the Jazz seating has a lot to do with the way CJ and Price play. If they play well that could mean a couple extra wins.
The Jazz may be too beat up to run with PHO. Maybe Sloan can slow up the game and win a defensive struggle.
Jazz seating? Do you mean seeding?
I looked at the schedule and I thought SA had a harder schedule than OKC but Phoenix has the easiest of the 4 thru 7 teams. The Jazz should finish 4th, if they can stay healthy and win the games they should. It should be Jazz 4th, Suns 5th, Spurs or Thunder, 6th /7th, Blazers 8th. If the Jazz play well and get alittle lucky the Nuggests could lose enough that the Jazz could catch them. Although the Nuggests have the tie breaker with the Jazz.
Here's hoping the injuries are minor and don't end up causing the Jazz to lose games they shouldn't.
If we could suck it up and beat the Suns Friday, it would make it very hared for the Suns to catch us.
After a lackluster start defensively with all the points in the paint, the Jazz finally woke up and picked up the intensity which helped offensively.
Millie had one of his better all around games in awhile, Okur is best when attacking his drives making him more complete. Boozer was usual consistent, Price did well, Korver on Bday a great shooting night, CJ took the drive, played D as did Matthews. Matthews except for couple plays he was beaten on the drive but help defense helped at times, looked real good.
Going forward these injuries are a major concern. AK who knows with him? Let us hope he did not get reinjured that bad, need him for Friday. DWIl has all sort of issues. I almost wished, Price and Gaines ran the game tonight, we cannot afford DWIL worse off..
Man this game was crazy. We were dropping like flies. Is AK the weakest man in the NBA???? If he wasn't ready to play why did he play???? He just set himself and the team back. We were playing Minnesota at home AK why come back this game when you could have got some rest and played the suns on friday?? Not to worried about DWill and Wes they are soldiers and will be ready. AK you need to put on 50 pounds next year so you can play more than 60 percent of the games. If the Jazz can win on friday their schedule looks promising and they could easily be riding a 9 game winning streak when they play the lakers on April 2nd. Heres hoping.
Matthews is class all the way.
Always ready, always plays with heart.
He and Korver sealed that game in the fourth.
The main reason we caught up and pulled ahead in that game was the defensive play of Fez. I'm not a Fez fan, but let's face it, their bigs had the run of the paint, with Jefferson scoring at will against Okur. Fez came in a pushed their offense ten feet further out and set the tone for the rest of the game. Price was also instrumental in the come back. Sure he had a bad pass or two, but so does every point guard. His defense is ten times better than Williams. If Sloan wants Williams to survive longer in this league, he will play D-Will at the two with Price and Gaines at the point for stretches during the game.
Okur could score 30 a game, but his defense is giving up 40, and 20 boards a game. Utah cannot play Okur and Boozer together without giving up the paint. The Jazz need to start Fez, and bring Okur off the bench with Millsap.
Al Jefferson scored over Boozer not Okur. I think Memo had a decent overall game. He hustled, scored boxed out...etc. If you watch Boozer he is afraid of contact. He never rotates. He does not have a single blocked shot in the last 4-5 games. I for one appreciate the effort Memo putting to improve his defensive skills. He is not a great defensive presence but hey he is getting as many block shot per game as AK and Millsap this year. I think it tells a lot about the players progress.
If you really watched the game how can you claim that Fez did a good defensive job? He did not show any flashes of improvement to me. He got blocked twice and had 3 fouls in just 8 mins. C'mon lets be realistic here. Starting Fez over Memo for what?
boz wasent doing much untill fes came in opeaned up the paint. 2 half fes came in opeaned up the paint for millsap. dont look like he is doing much but the results were there.
The "sloanaholics" do not see it though. It is amazingly obvious. I have said for over one, play DWIL with Price and or Gaines. DWIL did not always run the point at Illinois, Dee Brown did
Forty
Fes defense man on man was outstanding as always. For some reason Minnisota had 2 straight plays where Draco would shoot fade away jump shot against Fes. Not Bright.
When a guard went in and Fes was there our interior defense did not really improve.
In the 2nd half:
On the first play Brewer drove to the basket and Fes rotated late and fouled. The second time Wilkens drove the ball to the rim Fes was late and he fouled and Wilkins still made the basket. They drove to the basket twice and Fes was late both times. He quickly got his 3rd foul and was back to the bench. His man to man defense is outstanding, but his help defense is worse than any player outside of Boozer - who idea of help defense is yelling at AK or Millsap to "block that."
Jefferson was not guarded by Okur. He was guarded by Boozer. Okur was guarding Draco man to man
On Defense you only lose a little to Fes. But you lose so much offensively it not ever worth playing him. This team is not better with Fes. Hopefully he gets better
Miles played one of his better games. Outside of that really horrible 3 point shot. His 2nd 3 pointer where he went around a pick and faded away like he was Jimmer.
Miles took a charge (it the second time I have seen him take a charge). He played the passing lanes. And his rotation on the help defense was great. I actually as good as AK.
Well AK in the Second Quarter was perfect. I have yet to see Miles play perfect defense for a quarter.
Speaking of AK. Man hope he gets back soon. This team needs him for the next 3 games.
Fez would actually close off the pain more than Okur because he cant score more than 1 foot from the basket..
I thought it was a reasonably good game played by the Jazz.. Didnt understand Deron being in there late again with Iata on the bench up by 20..
Keep it up Korver! What a night! Hope he has the strength to light it up again against the Suns!
Fes need consistent playing time even 5-10 minutes to get confidence. Sitting doghouse whole time does not improve confidence. Matter of time points will come. Jazz have enough offensive to compensate Fes but Jazz need to prepare him for Lakers and Nuggets just for 2 team that's it. Rest of teams Jazz can win with small line up.
Nice block, sent message "how yo athletic is still little man".
Get well Ak
Here is the most amazing thing about Jazz fans on here. They are blind. CJ has been rebounding, making assists and leading the team in steals and you still complain. Why don't you look at the box score of last night's game and tell me if any of the guards from Minn. had any rebounds?
Easy Miles. Your man playing good recently except some shooting hiccups.
OK haters, here's the truth. First of all, that "foul" by Fesenko on Wilkens was a foul on the atmosphere, as absolutely NO contact was made, as the replay clearly showed for those of us watching on TV. Clearly a foul that shouldn't have been called. Second of all, one of the blocks against him was from behind, which could and has happened to every player in the league. The second one was actually a block on his face, which Gary Briggs had to check during a time out. It wasn't Fesenko's finest hour, but come on, folks! Truth is and has been, we're going to need his size come playoff time, and he needs the minutes to get comfortable with playing. When he gets them, he does well. When they come sporadically, not so much. Hopefully coach keeps feeding him some minutes in the games down the stretch. The investment will bear fruit.
