Hyer's got my vote.
Chaffetz is against body scans.

I would rather get a body scan than die in a terrorist attack.

Who is she?

Has anyone heard of her before? I don't know anything about her.

She sounds like a liberal, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Chaffetz is against Hate Crime protection.
For that reason, he lost my vote.

I smell a RINO

or is she just a confused women? I guess she wants to bring home the pork for Utah.

Chaffetz is against marriage...in DC!
Why would I vote to support this man?

Dixie Dan

Brilliant comment, "sounds like a liberal." She has taught Constitutional law on a international level and all a local can say is this asine comment.

Chaffetz is an idiot please please vote him away

I don't like Chaffetz, but we don't need another democrat in office that will keep Queen Nancy at her throne.

Chaffetz supported 2.3 billion dollars of the stimulus AFTER arguing against it. If he can't stick to his morals, I do not want to vote for him.

Chaffetz is against earmarks.

Chaffetz is FOR earmarks...for him.

Wait! Chaffetz is against earmarks again!

Flip-floppers don't get my vote.

The only thing I have seen Chaffetz do is judge a burger eating contest.

Opportunist

If this person goes to Congress as a Democrat, they'd have to support Nancy Pelosi as Speaker or be ostracized and ineffective. Hardly a viable strategy to win the confidence of Utahns in the 3rd District. we don't need a Democrat enabler of Nancy Pelosi-Obama left wing agenda. If she were really a person of convictions, she'd run as a republican against Chaffetz.... but instead, it seems to be about 'her" and so she wants to guarantee herself a spot on fall ballot so willing to sell out principles to become a Democrat. There's the real flip-flopper. What's her name?

Anonymous comments should be disregarded. If one has an opinion worth stating, then they should be willing to put their name behind it. I support Jason Chaffetz who has a proven record of success despite current political challenges.

Chaffetz is the best

Jason getting things done
Rep. Jason Chaffetz has been fighting for

* Fiscal Discipline
* Limited Government
* Accountability
* Strong National Defense

Chaffetz has sponsored over a dozen bills, original co-sponsored under 100 and co-sponsored hundreds of others. He shows up to vote. I don't know if he has missed more than 1 surprise vote all year.

He had 310 in the house vote in favor of an amendment re: whole body scans, it passed the house and is in the senate. I know of one bill Jason started that signed by Obama. Others are now in the senate.

Not only is he making waves, he is decreasing government waste. He is standing up for traditional families.

I am glad he is running for re-election. We need more like him.

TSA

I would rather have some cute beagle sniffing people as they go by the metal detector.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Earmarks

No more ear marks

Congress spends our money. Do they do it by voting on a specific issue and deciding if it needs federal dollars, or to the take money that has been budgeted to a department away from that department and give it to their friends.

It is time earmarks were no longer the return on investment for big money, incumbents re-election campaigns, or lobbyists.

A city shouldn't have to pay some lobbyist to donate to a campaign fund of someone back in DC to get the help they need from the federal government.

I like the way Jason is doing things. Keep it up.

Keeping his promise

Rep. Jason Chaffetz has and is doing exactly what he said:

“Therefore, I, Jason Chaffetz, in my capacity as Congressman, do hereby pledge that I will personally support spending reform in Congress by refusing to seek, support, or enact earmarks during the appropriations process for fiscal year 2009.”

“Earmark reform is a critical component to reforming Washington and fixing the mismanaged appropriations process. If I am fortunate enough to win, I will join other fiscal conservatives in the fight to fix this broken system,” said Jason Chaffetz.

from his 2008 campaign website.

He did the 2009 and he is trying to fix the current system.

Chaffetz wastes his time getting sound bites that sound impressive then pats himself on the back and does nothing.

Mr. A. Smith

It's interesting that the only bill Chaffetz authored that has passed the Senate and President's office is the re-naming of a post office in Provo to honor Rex E. Lee, whose son Michael Lee is challenging Bennett for the Senate seat. This is less than earth shattering. He can keep passing this type of legislation and have all of the post ofc buildings named after a person. I'm not sure how this helps anyone, except politically with the children of the honorees. Chaffetz is a typical pandering politician who says anything to get and stay in office. His earmark platform is a joke, and so is his voting record. He votes right along with moderate Republicans. He's not changing anything, except molding a full-time career path in Congress for himself. It would be great to have someone in office with substance and intelligence. I'd like to hear what Karen Hyer has to say. It's clever running as a Dem because the Blue Dogs have more power in Congress right now as majority members, and they're the ones keeping the far left in check, not the Republicans.

How would we know 'Perry' is your actual name? Nothing supports you are using your actual name. Me thinks you are just upset there are REASONS given not to vote for Chaffetz.
