Unless he can take 5-6 3pt shoot a game, it doesn't help much to shoot 56% when he only shot 79 3's so far in the season.
Why isn't korver getting more minutes, not starting?
I've heard it all before, but as he said, all the outside shooters will benefit from time on the floor to get a rythym going. I think he should be starting, thats all i have to say.
Any other team in the NBA would be using Korver's talents more!
Korver takes less than two 3's a game. The equates to less than 3 points a game from his 3's. That is not a game changer.
Don't know if the problem is Jerry's system or Dwill not getting him the ball? The other possibility is that Korver can't create his own shot nor can he shoot when someone is on him.
Jazz Cop, really, Korver is not an NBA starter.
If Korver shot the ball as much as CJ can you imagine how good the Jazz and Korver could be? There's something fishy here! Just wondering why Korver doesn't get more time on the floor. Is Coach Sloan keeping him rested for some reason?
Korver's shot is a beautiful sight. He fully acknowledges he is in the NBA to shoot. So let's let him shoot!
Very positive article and glad Korver is here right now. Jazz have had to put up with his aches and pains and injuries and his inability to guard anyone.
It is necessary to wear down opponents before sending Korver in. He is not hard to guard and so the opponent needs to be tired in order to have him be able to get an open shot.
Korver is very fortunate that there are other wings that have been able to step in when he was not hitting his shot.
Korver is smarter and a better shooter. Althetic potential is nothing when the althete has compromised work ethic and knowledge of the game. Brains are cool!
This team is a controlled offense that doesn't spread the court and move the ball, therefore Korver would be much better utilized in a Phoenix, Golden Syate, Clipper type offense. Change to fit your players talent and strengths Jerry or change occupations!
No doubt about it Korver NEEDS to get more minutes, keep starting Matthews but KK needs to be second off the bench and get 25 minutes.GO JAZZ
My friends feel Okur should be 1st team all defensive center and are happy with the "slonaholics" we did not get Camby, Kaman or Haywood.
The "sloanaholics" did not want to even to attempt to buiold a team for the playoffs as they were content with mid pack west finish and 50 wins onlyto lose in the playoffs again as the game changes somehwat then.
The difference between Korver and CJ is that CJ can create his own shot. Korver has to be wide open and his feet set. I could guard Korver because he is so one dimensional. He only gets his shot off when his defender helps out.
Fantastic to see Korver hitting shots so well. It would be even more fantastic if he got more minutes to get in the flow of the game early on. Yes Williams needs to get him the ball more often! Great for Korver to be healthy and feeling good. Looking forward to more of those 3's. Go Korver! Go Jazz!
It's true Kover would be better utilized in Phoenix or a run and gun offense, but we need him to stay in Utah! With just a few adjustments Korver could be a leading scorer in Utah! Korver brings so much to the Jazz basketball and to the community. He is a class act both on and off the floor!
The 3 point shot is pretty much the weapon of last resort for Jerry. He doesn't like to rely on it too much.
Korver could hit 8 threes in a game and Sloan still wouldn't change his concept of how to play the game. In a way he is right. Three point shots are great until you start bricking them. (Live by the 3 die by the 3.)
Instead, Jerry chooses to use the "threat" of the 3 point shot to keep opposing teams from packing it in the middle.
The other posters are right. Korver on almost any other team would be shooting a lot more threes. But the Jazz, under Sloan, are not going to abandon the pick 'n roll so Korver can shoot more threes.
That being said, I believe other teams will take a strong run at signing Korver when his contract is up at the end of the season.
As much as I like Kyle, the Jazz can't afford to overpay for him since they don't utilize his strongest weapon (the 3) all that much. And with Matthews now developing a strong outside shot, Kyle may just become expendable.
It doesnt do ANY good for CJ to create is own shot if he cant make it
It is nice that the Jazz have a player like Korver, but he is a specialty type player.
The reason Mathews and CJ are getting more time than KK is because of his Defense.
The reason why kyle doesnt play more is because he isn't as long as cj is and he doesnt play defense that well. CJ needs to focus on defense more.. he is so inconsistent with his shot.. defense is the only thing that you can be consistent with.. ya kyle should get more minutes with boozer and deron in because derons penetration and boozers inside presence gives him open shots when he is on the floor with gaines/price and millsap and okur the teams can play everyone straight up and not sag into the paint
Someone's making a joke! CJ and defense don't belong in the same sentence! Also @ Miles.....CJ may be able to create his own shot but he has to shoot 100 times to make 10 baskets...enough said!
@Wake Up: I Love your love for CJ. I didn't go to High School but I think that would equate to 10%. That seems a little low for CJ. I think he makes a few more than that. Perhaps I am wrong? I am into wins and loses not stats. So maybe you could help me out? And CJ is our only defensive hope in beatin the Lakers.
