Oh yeah.... Let's just put him in prison for ever and waste tax payer dollars.. Come on, lets get some guts and execute him.

aaron

Do some research Jake, puttinga person in person for life is cheap than the death penalty.

Amanda

For some reason, people who strongly favor the death penalty never seem to be willing to do any research and understand that, as Aaron said, it is MUCH more expensive to execute a death penalty that to impose life imprisonment. Google "cost of death penalty or life sentence" and all the evidence is easy to find. Toss this guy in a cell and forget about him - let my tax dollars go to education and social programs instead of endless appeals for this piece of garbage.

Chris

Life withouot possibility of parole is a logical sentence and costs taxpayers less.

LIfe and no parole

Done!

Huh?

"...may consider gun enhancement penalties?"

These laws were not passed so that they are "optional" but as actual crimes. If he violated those laws the penalties MUST be added.

Of course, it would be best if they actually used the death penalty, regardless of the cost associated with funding a life long career for [insert adjective of your choice] lawyers.

Death vs. Life Costs

While that may be true, doesn't that "tell" you something? Doesn't that cause some red flags to pop up in your mind? Don't you wonder "why" it costs more to execute a person as opposed to keeping them alive for scores of years? Doesn't it sound just a tad skewed?

Perhaps it's time this obvious discrepancy was looked into and corrected.

Justice was served, he will no longer be on the streets to kill or harm anyone else. Thankfully there were no children there. Loss of life is enough and it needs to stop. There is no sense to all this killing that is going on. I think that the only justice would be if they would turn the gun on themselves and let the innocent live. I feel for those families, it is a tragedy to be out celebrating a wedding and now have to attend two funerals. Senseless is all I can cay.

Whiggy

The real issue is not the lack of death penalty. The real issue is that this crime would not have happened if the legislature had gotten tough on gun-related violence. How many more people must die before the legislature decides that enough is enough?

Sad

I knew Riqo years ago as I worked at a juvenile detention center. It saddens me to see he turned out like this. I never would have thought he would do these things! I feel for the victims and their families.

I think that the gang members do put allot of fear into folks to go either way . It is very sad this child did not have a chance from day one born to gang family a grandma who used drugs . Young parents into drugs and gangs not fair .We can pray that things turn work out for him and he has a chance to get out and have some outside life .

Batman Begins Quote

"Justice! Crime can not be tolerated. A criminal thrives on the indulgence of society's understanding."

charles Gaisford

Get real people. Death is an easy out for him. Sitting in a cell for life would be far worse.

Get real Charles

The death penalty brings closure to the victims. It places him where he needs to be (I'm assuming you're not an atheist there). It is more expense right now, but it is a just, fitting punishment for murder.

Common Sense

If it does cost more to utilize the death penalty, then something is bad wrong with the system. So fix the system, and let these terrible crimes be punished with equal cost-life. If the death penalty were used more often, it would certainly deter crimes of this nature for the more part of the people. Others have no care for life and would just as soon be put to death, so if they are guilty, let them have the death they desire. Many, many criminals commit crimes so they will be fed and housed for the rest of their lives.
