Replacing one Mr. Basketball (Tyler Haws) with another Mr. Basketball (Kyle Collinsworth).
It's a great time to be a BYU fan and player!
Just wish he was six inches taller. BYU needs "bigs" rather than just a bunch of wing players.
But I'm sure he'll be a good contributor and will help the Cougars to continue to improve . . . if they can find a couple of "bigs."
The Cougars are traditionally weak at rebounding and defense against the UNLVs, UNMs, and San Diego States.
It's kind of sad that Chris and Kyle had to be scared off by Springville's sub-par approach to basketball and had to go somewhere else to have a positive basketball experience. But it was a good move for them and Kyle certainly deserves this award. It just saddens me to think what could have been had Springville kept these two guys at home with a coaching staff that knew how to win. Springville has had some good talent that would have complimented them nicely.
Too bad.
Springville always plays second fiddle to the Provo Schools
Amen, its nice to know and every kid out there should be well informed that all schools in Utah are open enrollement and if you don't like the program you can go to another school as long as you follow proper procedures. Going to the school in your boundaries isn't always a good thing and some HS Coaches have no appreciation for the work put into these kids they just expect them to perform for them and then degrade them because they don't play to their expecations! Good job Klye way to be an example to those who may want to change schools and play for a program that actually values you for who you are not for who you aren't!
I wonder if he will second guess his decision after BYU makes their traditional early exit from the Big Dance.
nope Weber county is not open enrollment
"It was no secret heading into this season that Collinsworth's strength is getting to the basket. Through hard work in the gym, however, he's become a solid outside shooter as well."
Doesn't that sentence sound a little backwards? Hitting the gym tends to make you a stronger force getting to the basket, not a more solid outside shooter.
As a ute fan I'm so angry about another recruit we were never even close to getting. I wish we'd stop going for euro trash and recruiting real talent that keeps choosing BYU.
Collingsworth is a good, dependable player. Its interesting that Utah allows players to chose their school rather than requiring them to go to the school in whose boundaries they reside. It's not that way in most states. As for him getting away from Utah. Consider getting the U to raise its standards.
You that clueless? Hitting the gym, as in, being a gym rat and shooting a lot of shots. Duh?
Translation: He spent a lot of time in the gym working hard to improve his shot...
and it paid off.
2094.....nah, not a chance.
I cant believe there arent any South Sevier Fans on here whining about Bishoff not being Mr Basketball. All I have to say is the right person won it.
says congrats Kyle for your honor, well deserved.
He will be an exciting talent for BYU. He bring height but a nice shot and good ball handling skills. He has the size to play the forward but the outside shot and ball handling skills of a guard. Plus he's a quality young man who should represent BYU well off the court!
This kid was the best basketball player I have sen in the state this year. His team wouldn't have won half of their games had he not played. Congrats to This kid.
Collinsworth almost averaged a triple double and recorded 5 triple doubles in the season.. A well rounded player no doubt.. easily mr. basketball.. well deserved. congrats kid
He made the right choice since BYU is the best in the state.
He will totally regret it. He could have chosen a school with no post-season invitations at all, and a future that looks worse than this year. Yep, he will really regret that choice. Please..... tell me about your final four's last decade!!
now I'm with you in thinking that tbone may be a ute troll, and I am a Ute fan as well. BUT did collinsworth have offers from top tier programs who do have RECENT post season success? That is what I would like to know.
