Number 5 in roads dead last in education funding, at least there is evidence of where your priorities.
Why must people continue to equate "more money spent" with "better results"? While Utah may spend less per pupil by whatever metric you want to look at, it is no where near the bottom in results. According to US News & World Report analysis, Utah comes in at 27th educationally (according to the metrics they measured). I saw another site that ranked Utah as 38th...
you need safe roads to get to school
Let's see here, Utah has the fifth-best roads in the nation, did Reader's Digest ask Bennett and Hatch how many earmarks and pork built them?. And, are those roads to no-where?.
now if it only had safe drivers to match ...
best roads with some of the worst drivers! There's a reason General conference is ended with something to the effect of "please obey traffic laws" If only ears could listen and apply year round. Didn't realize why it was said each time, till I visited.
People driving too fast in the snow love them too.
Utah drivers might actually be safer than you think. I lived in Utah for 25 years and just recently moved to Nevada. I grew up in Utah believing that Utah drivers were "the worst." Even when I was in Utah I thought drivers were pretty bad. However, since being here in Nevada for a little over two months I don't think Utah has as bad of drivers as I thought. It seems like I've been in as many close calls in two months here than in the whole time I was in Utah. Plus, car insurance here is more than three times what I paid in Utah. Goes to show that I am more likely to get in an accident here in Nevada...not very comforting seeing all of the DUI and traffic ticket billboard here either. Maybe it's just me being a "foreign" driver here, but I actually think there are bad drivers wherever you go.
RIDERS Association..
Having lived in a few different states, the consensus seems to be that the worst drivers in the country are in the state of [insert name of state you currently live in].
Far better to spend the money on roads than rail. It costs about 10 times as much for the rail ticket as the customer pays. Guess who makes up the difference.
I have lived in a lot of states. As time as progressed drivers overall have gotten worse, but Utah has the most speeders and red light runners that I have seen anywhere. Other then that the drivers here are fairly good. But, don't let a red light slow down an Utah driver.
The reason why it has some of the worst drivers is that Utah has a large influx of foreigners that really do not know how to read, let alone drive.
FREEWAY BEFORE..
Before or After work
Is not the best time to be on one

How in the world can someone claim that Utah has the safest roads but worst drivers? Hello? The safety of the road is partially determined by the drivers driving on it!
The most dangerous roads have the most fatalities or accidents. How are fatalities and accidents caused? By bad driving! What does it mean if there are fewer accidents? That the drivers are really bad, but exceptional at avoiding accidents at the last minute, of course!
You should not be DRIVING a Vehicle
Yeild for other Drivers
please give SIGNAL to Slow down before the EXIT!!!
(READ SIGNS)
Sorry you said what? Then why two times my cane got run over? Road here are no better than where I use to live in Calif. My other friend got run over on her cane and stranded. Luckly we didn't get hurt!
You poor libs!!
There goes your theory. Utah has some of the fastest drivers and yet some of the safest roads.
I hate it when FALLACIOUS LIBERAL ARGUMENTS don't hold up and we can't find a logical reason to control peoples behavior!!
I thought for sure all these speeders around here meant the roads had to be unsafe!
Darn it!!
As usual EMOTIONAL LIBERALS PROVEN to be devoid of logic and facts in their arguments.
This ought to give you a good example of what is ruling washington these days.
And thats not even a Freeway!
Speed limits are posted
At the top of the article someone said, "While Utah may spend less per pupil by whatever metric you want to look at, it is no where near the bottom in results." This is wrong we have fallen into the bottom in math, science and reading scores, ACT scores and more. Under funding education will catch up to you. Granted the most important aspect of education comes from home. However if teachers don't receive adequate pay and benefits the quality of that pool will go down. Like it or not teachers do make a difference and we can’t ignore the school environment our students are in.
Only fools would argue roads are more important than children’s education. I don’t want to point any finger toward the legislators with that comment… alright maybe a few fingers.
