Same old jazz

Same old jazz. Same old jazz. How many years in a row has this been. Good but not great.

Houdini

Another very dissapointing loss...no way to sugar-coat it.Lots of missed free throws, bad defense we give up 119,not good at all.very dissapointed

CL

First thing is props to Mathews, he stepped up and had a very good game.
Being short handed as the Jazz were, they needed everyone to have a good game and it didn't happen.
CJ, again, again, again, continues to struggle with his shooting and it really hurt the Jazz and Sloan didn't have AK to go to. CJ can't match up with Durrant. Maybe AK could.
Booz had what some people might say was a good game, but under the circumstances it was well below what was needed from him. He needed to step up and have 25 to 30, especially with Okur and AK out.
Milsap had a below average game for the minutes he had and with Okur and AK out. He too needed to step up and have at least a little above average considering the circumstances.
DWill scored & assisted well, but could stop Westbrook. Both DWill and CJ played hard but couldn't slow or stop their man.
Fes may not have shot well, especially from the line, but he was the only player with a positive +,- for the game. He doesn't need to score to be an asset onthe floor.

Please Stand up...

Will the real Fesenko please stand up? All his supporters have been bad mouthing Coach Sloan for weeks because he hasn't played him enough while a few, less vocal fans, have been stating that coach knows what he is doing and believe he is highly overrated.

Well, tonight he had a good chance to shine, and he shot an underwhelming 33% from the floor (1 of 3), bricked a dismal 25% from the line (2 of 8), had a single blocked shot, and tied Gaines with 3 rebounds, despite playing 6 more minutes than Yada.

He altered a couple of shots, but he was also badly out of position on more than one occasion. I guess the skeptical fans were right!

We badly missed the overall play of AK tonight and the outside shooting of Memo. One bright note was Matthews. He continues to impress.

The Jazz will bounce back in the next game for a big win. Count on it...

todd from santa ana

matthews lighting it up was a highlight tonight by far and he is capable but has to do it every night at the #2 slot

Disappointed ... again.

Same story, different year.

re: CL

I agree with most of your post, but you are sadly mistaken about Fesenko. You use a +- score of 1 as evidence Fesenko made a big difference? I suggest read a good book called, "How to Lie with Statistics" that describes how some use one single fact to justify a position while ignoring other, more likely variables.

You have to look at Fesenko's entire stat line, and he made absolutely NO difference in the game tonight. Matthews, in contrast, was at -3, but it is obvious to any unbiased observer he made a great difference in the game.

Fesenko made very LITTLE difference on the court despite the very minimal +- score (+1, wow). Yada's actual stat line (that includes multiple factors) was more impressive, with fewer minutes. The other players had a negative +- because they were on the floor more in a disappointing, losing cause.

Ak Fan to Stand up

Did we watch same game? He was only defensive player on the floor. Who cares he cannot score missed some freebies big deal. He need playing time to improve, riding bench doesn't help much. Put Fesenko any Boozer or Milssap could be better but Jerry went to his old ways. GO AK. Get well soon.

RE: re: CL

YOu could say the same thing about most of the JAzz players,

especially boozer.

MOST of the Jazz players make little difference.

and boozer is supposed to be the "star"

but apprently AK does make a difference, when he is gone it is ALWAYS noticable,

but the dumb jazz fans always blame him for his contract.

re: CL & Boozer (9:02)

I agree completely. The entire team was disappointing tonight. There were some nice offensive moments, but not much consistency on the defensive end.

It has been apparent to me for some time that AK is the real unsung difference maker on the Jazz. He was in a bit of a funk last year, but he brings so many intangibles to the team. He didn't always earn his money last year, but I certainly think he has been well worth the money with his effort this year.

Go AK and the Jazz.

CL

Re: Re CL : I beg to differ with you about the effect Fes had while he was on the floor. He does look out of position sometimes but he still made it difficult for the Thunder while he was in. While he was in the Thunder did have more trouble scoring. With more playing time, he will learn what he needs to do to finish some of those shots he missed.
I agree, you can make any argument you want with statistics and Mathews play tonight is a perfect example, but I don't see why you don't see the positive effect Fes had while he was in the game.
Yada, on the other hand played without emotion and very nonchalant. He didn't play anything like he usually has. From my perspective it was one of his poorest games so far.

RE CL

When we really need Miles he dissapears again,if you intend to wait for years for him to mature you`ll be out of luck, and players because by that time Williams Boozer Memo and AK will be long gone.I for one am sick of waiting for the GREAT MILES to develope. get rid of him ASAP

Really?

The Jazz will lose the tie breaker to the Thunder as well, just like to the Nuggets. Awesome!

Go Thunder!

Who's the All Star???????

Not impressive when you score 27 yet the opponent

you are supposed to be defending drops 30. The way

things are going, Williams will find himself

watching CP3 and Westbrook during the all star

break.

Wish Fes would play more, if he had gotten minutes

earlier this season than he would learn how to

finish. Lets face it, can't ask JSLOAN to change we have to hope Fes rises to the challenge instead of hoping Sloan will give him minutes and help him get there.

Different Season same story

I don't know what to say about this loss. Millsap for the last 10 games has been missing in action and he is not earning his paycheck this year at all. I love AK but he is about as strong as a twig. Next offseason he needs to gain 50 pounds on his twig body so he can play more than 75% of the season. Memo just needs to be shown the door end of story. The whole game was dissapointing as far as effort and energy standpoint. This pretty much seals the deal OKC will catch the Jazz and they will open up on the road at OKC in the 4-5 matchup. Man the Jazz had a chance to catch the 2 seed but instead of keep pace the give up.

CL

Re CL : You may be right about CJ, that is why it is so frustrating & hard to try to stay on CJ's bandwagon, but we can't get rid of him, so I might as well hope he can develop. He has the potential, one more yr and then trade him if he doesn't develop. After one more year, if he doesn't develop, he will be in the last year of his contract and then maybe he will be trad-able.
Fes is the other player I keep hoping will develop, because he is the type of player the Jazz need. He is tall, long, and pretty athletic for a 7'1" 300 pounder. He has the potential to control the paint and match up with the length of some of he top teams. He needs PT, so he can develop.

Bottom line, people is this-----------
FREE THROWS!!!!!

Jazz missed 12 free throws in this game. They bricked 12 free-bees!!!

Why is it sooooo hard for the Jazz to realize that they lose close games when they can't make free throws?

Of course, FEZ missed 6 of those---come on, Horney, give Fez some instruction--he really needs to be able to make free throws if he is going to be good in the NBA. It almost seems as though the Jazz don't take free throws seriously.

Jazz, I still love ya---but you are trying my patience!

Bossk

Let's face it. The Thunder were on tonight more than usual. They shot 60%, and they earned it. The Jazz didn't defend great, but even when they did defend, the Thunder still hit their shots. Hitting 14 of 17 in the third quarter was neither skill nor terrible defense. It was mediocre defense combined with all the stars being aligned for the Thunder. They couldn't miss, even when under pressure.

The Jazz have been able to hobble through some victories against lesser teams, but it is painfully clear that their "depth" is a myth. I'm really beginning to feel sorry for CJ. I think he's trying, he does make some good passes, and has one good game at five. But he simply cannot play to the level required of a championship team. If AK's still out, we should start Korver at 3, and use CJ maybe 10 minutes a game. He just can't cut it.

Fes has potential, but he isn't really showing it. Sloan needs to give him 15 minutes a game to get him ready for playoffs.

And kudos to Matthews. Solid game - just keep improving!

todd on reality

sorry. the only thing that can save us is 3 winnable home games this week. Portland in #8 spot is only 2 1.2 back of us. If we open up at OK City they because of youth, length and skill they will hand it to us.

These are the points in not making a big man a priority at the deadline. Further, looking ahead as Denver will win the NW clearly, look at the up and coming teams. Ok City, Memphis are building through knowing who to draft. Minnesota and Sacramento will be better in 1-2 years also, despite theyr'e records, they are both better this year.

With this front office it hurts I love the Jazz so much because of the players, character, work effort and other things. However, it is so clear for one to see. The front office I do not trust, I will still root for the Jazz but we get passed up on every opportunity. For those that criticize this attitude, I am sorry. If anyone watched Denver last night we could not beat them in a series.
