Come on coach. Deron is great, but you're telling me LBJ isn't better than DWill? DWill is great, but there are better players in the league. Lately, Deron has been up and down. Really great and then really mediocre. Gotta think those injuries are bothering him.
I don't remember Stockton getting bested by rookies on a regular basis.
D-Will's biggest challenge is himself. He's still not running the team, but trying to carry it.
i agree, deron has been up and down lately, and he needs to work on his consistency....but i believe the article was talking about deron being the best point guard...lebron is a 2-guard; same with kobe. i think deron does have a claim to being the best point guard.
Go read the Sports Illustrated article on DWill. You aren't taking into consideration all the intangible and unmeasured things DWill brings to the game. If you look at box scores he's not the best in the NBA... but consider this quote from another NBA coach.
"Whoever is guarding him is going to need help all of the time, and if he posts up, we'll double him on the dribble," Hughes said last Saturday in Salt Lake City. "We'll spend a majority of our defensive thought process trying to stop him."
Personally, I don't think DWill is in the Top 5 in the NBA... but I don't think I'm in any position to start a debate about basketball with Larry Brown :)
