Of course they are shedding religion. Science and knowledge are replacing the organized and reinforced superstitions that were used to control earlier generations. And that is a good thing.
Re: Truth will win out every time: And what truth what that be your atheistic return to dust truth. Sorry my friend I think you are in for a shock when that day comes. Sad thing is some of you won't even have the faith to see if there is anyting to God and religion (if you did you might be surprised). Pretty sad to live your whole life and not even go down that road at all.
"They say they're spiritual, but they don't want much to do with religion, especially organized religion,"
Very true, I love God but religion disgusts me.
Some like “Truth Will Win Out Every Time” confuse Science and the information it provides with truth.
By definition Science is the systematic and organized gaining of knowledge that is derived from observations, which are verified and tested thoroughly. Accumulation of facts, discovering and inventing new theories depending on these facts can also be termed as science.
Thus knowledge gained by Science is ephemeral lasting only until Science presents new knowledge that renders the present knowledge obsolete, e.g. the sun comes up in the east and sets in the west each day. Its been observed and tested and proved relable to this pattern regardless of any situation and had done so from the beginning of man; so using Science, it was determined, and concidered common knowledge and an undeniable truth that the sun revolved around the earth. This is sure faith to hold to considering the evidence presented and technology available at the time.
In time that knowledge was found to be false; thus Science is not truth but only a way of explaining our environment at any given time utilizing the technology available.
Come on 8:50...say that the 1 in infinate chance that your views are correct and I find myself disadvanted upon my death because I didn't bend my knee. I know you will not understand my further response but oh well (ears that can hear and all)...I will proudly not bend my knee to that vision in the afterlife either. (Gotta think about the after-after life too you know!)
I have a hard time beliving that this tubing episode caused her years of emotional trauma. Historically in our own culture, 15 year old girls have been considered of mariageable age. This is still true in much of the world.
I think we treat our youhg people with kid gloves and expect they are fragile creatures when they are not.
This is part of our present day set of myths.
Science has never said that it has all the answers for ultimate truth. Quite the opposite. Religion makes that claim every day.
One can just read the current articles on the D-news to get evidence of why religion is on the wane with younger folk. Sex scandal lands square in the lap of the Pope. Mormon politician gets standing ovation by Mormon legislators for admitting he bribed a woman to hide details of actions that land others on the neighborhood sex offender list.
Could go on and on of course.
99.9% of all people that "KNOW they are right" are indeed wrong.
Most people will be surprised when they die.
Also, 97.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
A study by Christian Smith of UNC-Chapel Hill on Teenagers Religiousity says LDS teenagers "top the charts in Christian characteristics". For details, Google: "MormonTeenagersReligiousity"
Methodist Rev. Kenda Creasy Dean of the Princeton Theological Seminary beieves that LDS emphasis on "a creed to believe, a place to belong, a calling to live out, and a hope to hold onto" produces better Christians than other denominations.
The only difference between the State and Religion is that one doesn't exist. Silly Sheep!
Those who think that science or secularism will replace religion are sorely mistaken. Two editors for The Economist (one a Catholic, the other an atheist) recently wrote a fascinating book entitled "God Is Back," which explains the resurgence of God and religion in the modern world. Although millennials may not belong to a religion, they are still very spiritual; in addition, all younger generations tend to follow this trend, yet in their older years they begin to look for a religion. One of the biggest conclusions that the book makes is that God was never dead, and he never left.
Whether you're an agnostic, atheist, or a believer I highly recommend that book. It highlights the religious trends that are shaping our world and will have a deep impact on this century.
The existenialist John Paul Sarte said,"no finite point has any meaning unless it has an ifinite reference point." I would still be an agnostic, if there was no trinity, because there would be no answers. Without the high order of personal unity and diversity as given in the trinity.
Religion is only attacked by Satan and his followers. I guess this is why Glenn Beck is now attacking religion also. People like Beck that have blind followers will now turn away from their religions also just so they can save money for themselves. As long as people do not search, ponder, and pray on their own and they are willing to just follow what others say then Religions will suffer.
The scientific method has been used to discover much truth that is verifiable, whereas most religious teachings are based soley on supposition and mythology and are eventually shown to be untrue. Decide for yourself which one you want to follow.
Reading these posts brings a scripture to mind: "Fools mock but they shall mourn." Gotta pity the poor fools who turn their collective backs on a loving God. Oh, Well.
John Paul Sarte the French(existenalist)atheist once said, "the finite makes no sense without infinite. I would still be an agnostic,If there were no Trinity, because there would be no answers. Without the high order of personal unity and diversity as given in the Trinity.
People like you are the biggest superstitious fools who can not define god and can not understand science and reason. you only follow what some bigger superstitious fool has told you. Go learn for yourself and get your god given life back.
Athiests. Therefore, they do not exist.
How can any of you claim kids are less religious today because they have a better understanding and chance on learning what frauds religions truly are. New generations aren't as easily brainwashed as they were in the 18th to 20th centuries, or rather as they were in the dark-ages. People have opened their eyes to old foolish superstitions..this is what happens with EDUCATION.
With the way the media and the movie industry attack religion and the devout person is there any shock faith is fading?
